Android is open source which means it has a lot more flexibilty than the iphone, it also has Google backing it. The apps for Android phones are behind the iphone at the min which is understandable as apple had a head start over everyone. The app market is growing though at a decent rate, even the BBC recognise that Android is growing quickly and are impressed with its capabilities over the iphone.

The iphone doesn't have flash built in and it won't have it anytime soon, that means you can't go on to websites like the BBC and watch iplayer where as you can with an android phone.
Basically with an iphone you are stuck with what apple have to offer, android is more flexible and open source which means any developer can make software for its platform.
The iphone 4 can't even do the basics right like recieve a strong phone signal lol, if you put your hand in certain places on the iphone 4 it blocks the signal out, thats why apple have had to design a band to go round it. If you don't like the look of it having a tacky rubber band round it they have offered people a refund. |

I can't get an iPhone as I get Virgin half price and they don't do them. Getting one on another network would cost me about £25 a month more so for that reason I'm out.
I'm torn between Android and BlackBerry though so any opinions from people who use either of them are welcome.

It's way ahead of the iPhone and will be lightyears ahead when version 2.2 is rolled out.
Indispensable apps are 3g watchdog, shazam, barcode scanner , Google goggles, layer reality browser and an app simply called train times.

Froyo 2.2 is already out, ive had it on my Desire for about 2 weeks. You must have a branded phone thats locked to a network if you don't already have it. The official HTC 2.2 release for unbranded phones was a couple of weeks ago.
Phones locked to a network take longer as companies like Vodafone and T Mobile have to add their own cr@p like Vodafone 360 to Froyo 2.2 before they will release it. |

So you're saying froyo with HTC Sense is available now? I thought we were still stuck on 2.1 or rooted 2.2 without Sense, but then again I haven't been checking up on the latest news about the subject. |
