Reality for me is that Ashton, Thewlis & Wrench are good in lots of space. Russell is outstanding doing the tough yards. Russell will be used taking up the ball in pressure situations at which he is miles better than our much loved boys. All of them worry me under the high ball. But no player is perfect. I will support & encourage them all. I reckon I know what they will all be practising.

We're going to finish mid table at best, probably in the lower half. Most of us know it.

Those of us who aren't completely jaded and disenchanted will make an effort to lean into pre-season optimism in a few weeks time and this forum will have people saying we will compete for trophies, our squad is as good as any, but reality will hit by about week 2 or 3.

KFP is ready to act if we haven't shown any promising performances by week 6.

We can only hope that Powell's vision for the club doesn't take us all the way down to the Championship. We could even be a revelation in 2023.

So KF confirmed last night at the Fans Forum that Stefan Ratchford came up to him last week and said Russell was looking for a club and desperate to come back and so KF explored it. If that’s the case I wonder what input Powell actually has in recruitment.

Let’s be fare here. There is absolutely nobody else we could have found for the morsel of cap we must have had left, who we could have signed, for remotely the value we can get from Russell.

What would it matter if Steph spoke with DP or KF first?
Either way, they would have spoken with each other, and I bet DP didn’t need to be asked twice! Speaking to KP absolutely does not undermine the authority of DP in this instance.

I was there. It was quite good actually. He said we have room on the cap still for another signing if needed and basically said Russell is on peanuts.
