Penny wasn't as bad as the first poster suggests. One thing I was always taught is if your the winger you mark the opponents last man no matter what which is something Penny needs to learn and quick.

You must have been watching a different game to me.
He had no real chances, got stuck in defensively and wasn't responsible for leaking a try.

He did some great ass slapping in the first half.

I think its some of the more experience players that need to be looking at their performances last night and shaping up quick!

Compare and contrast this thread to the one regarding Ainscough at Wigan. Fair play to the pies, they back their players to the hilt, Ainscoough mkaes errors, but they view his overall game. Any errors Penny makes there is a hue and cry.

If we had Hazem el masri playing for us I'd hate the day he missed a couple of touchline conversions....

Penny did nothing wrong at all. The one thing I couldn't work out is why we didn't downtown kick the ball for him to chase at least once in the game.

Actually they have a fair share of fans who ripped him to pieces when he was playing, rather like Penny. The problem they have is that many don't rate Roberts either.

The only Wigan fans who have slated on(although it's been more consrtuctive criticisim) were the ones who've watched him on a regular basis in the u21's over the past couple of years.

They don't believe he's really ready for the first team because of his weaknesses and would rather see him develope in the u21's or on loan somewhere.

I don't agree because i believe his pro's far outweight his cons and the club should be good enough to help the lad develope as a first team player. He's shown he's a natural try scorer and looks to have a good attitude.

I think at least 95% of Wigan fans feel the same.

On certain threads though there has been a vocal minority who slate him, which tbh is exactly what has happened over here with the likes of Penny.

Look at the stick Mathers got at your club, same with Fielden, and even Noble.

I'm not necessarily questioning whether they deserved it (although IMO I don;t believe any player deserves some of the stick they get), I was just pointing out that the Wigan fans are no different to ours.

Ainscough hasn't been bashed by any Wigan fan on a scale that even comes close to Mathers or Fielden.

He gets backed by a huge majority and has one or 2 flaws questioned by a few. There defo hasn't been any Wigan fans saying to bin him off like Penny gets off the odd one on here.

Forget Ainscough, the statement was about backing players. Some of the stick Mathers received was disgusting, and still is.
