| Realistically how often are we going to have a full strength backline anyway. Bridge usually misses half the season through injury and surely the 45 year old Brett Hodgson will keep needing to be rested as a result of being too old to handle SL. As a result of our long Challenge Cup campaigns we have to play a lot of games in the season. If everybody was fit my backline would be Hodgson; J Monaghan, King, Atkins, Riley with Bridge on the bench. He would be a useful bench player because if necessary you can bring him on the field at loose forward or hooker, but if you want to bring him on the backs, he's got the best footwork of any of our backs so if you introduce him fresh against opposition centres who have had the power players King and Atkins rampaging at them, then he can come on, put a few steps on and he would start creating line breaks.

[quote="Saddened":15kig0eg]Pat Richards is poop. A typical, average, run of the mill NRL outside back. Nothing special at all. Like Barrett he is a myth. He is solid enough, he can catch, he can kick goals.[/quote:15kig0eg]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_7958.jpg |

| Quote: TheDoc "If the Australian national team think he is good enough to be a winger then thats good enough for me. Both Monaghan and King never played for Australia at centre'"
They dont anymore, hence why he played through the world cup and wasnt given another chance. IIRC he was the one who casued the penalty try to be given to NZ.
Good signing for Warrington, strange how a guy 'retires' who had just signed a new one year deal to accomodate him, but never mind. He will get alot of abuse and it has to be expected, and it would be no different had it been the other way around.
Looks like Warrington have good centres/wingers and should do well. Should be a good battle next season.

| Quote: Paul2812 "Not as ironic as the Wigan fans making all the comments. For those of them old enough to remember the 80's they need to cast their minds back to a certain home-grown player who now coaches in Union that accidentally slipped his winky into a 13 year old girl after picking her up in a bar in a Spanish resort. The News of the World didn't sell alot of copies in Wigan that Sunday apparantly.'"

I tended to ignore a lot of things that weren't included in the thread title.
Feel free to choose any.

Humour is humour wherever it originates.
Just because someone supports a rival team doesn't stop me laughing.

you really sound quite excited and fixated about what happened which is interesting.

When did he assault an animal? The picture that I saw showed a dog assaulting him!

Milly, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story...
From what I saw, Monaghan was extremely bladdered, had his winky out and the dog, like most dogs would do, was sniffing curiously at the offending piece of meat......Probably very funny at the time among a group of p!$sed up rugby players, just a tad embarrassing when you have sobered up....

| What Joel Monaghan did was vile and he has apologised, which does not make it right at all. I only hope he keeps his head down, does what he does best and score tries for the Wire. He'll just have to take the dog chants on the chin in my opnion...

| I can't believe how many virtuous people we have on R L Fans. No one has ever done anything stupid whilst highly intoxicated that they would later regret once sober? Obviously no amateur players here, because some of the drinking games you boys play are disgusting!
JM didn't 'do' anything to the dog. The dog did what dogs do. Dogs sniff, lick and hump anything given the opportunity, even drunk rugby players. I thought I was straight-laced but I'm way off compared to you lot!

| Just think how long a list we could do of Wigan players and the Wigan clubs indiscretions over the years, just read the Gazz Hock (second coming) thread, hypocrisy has always been strong with some Wigan fans.

If anyone wants to talk about the monaghan signing, use the team thread.
