| Quote Alffi_7="Alffi_7"I would be amazed if sims was on anywhere near peacocks salary. He came over from the NRL as an average journeyman prop, unlike his brothers who are now looking likely to be origin players.
'"
Exactly...anyone that watched the NRL must have realised we were getting the "worst" of the three brothers...but he wasnt/isnt a turkey...
he's done everything that I expected of him from watching him play out his last season at the cowboys, where he would most likely come on and replace test and Origin and 200 NRL game Prop forward Matt Scott and you'd see no difference in the Cowboys go forward or defence. I dont know what people where expecting....he hasn't been a disappointment for me.
all we need is a James Tamou and a Tariq sims to play alongside Chris hill and Ashton and well be right.....

| I disagree tFB, Asotasi cannot not be our worst, surely that accolade lies solely within the hands of Andy Currier?
Currier is the only player ever to make a shaat shiny.
Currier completely couldn't care less about our club he had the talent and did nothing but thieve a wage, the only effort he put into a Wire shirt was pulling it over his head, whereas Asotasi does make some effort but is restricted by TS spelling and through his age.

| Quote the flying biscuit="the flying biscuit"any notion that Asotasi does anything better than sims is nonsense.
Sims shows the game means something he makes last ditch tackles that would stop a midfield break, Ive seen more than one occasion sims hanging on to someone by one arm and being the reason that a player has been stopped.
he'll also do that while sweating like a lover because he's putting in a good stint in attack and defence.
Asotasi has missed midfield tackles, plenty of goal line tackles, and doesnt even get too excited about making tackles generally, all in 14 to 16 minutes of play!!! he should be impeccable. masoe did three 6 minutes stints against us but actually made a midfield bust and scored a try.
I will say till the end of time Asotasi is our worst ever overseas signing, and I saw Adam Doyle.'"
I am just dealing in bare stats here but:
Asotasi Average Gain 7.47m with a missed tackle percentage of 3.44%
Sims Average Gain 6.34m with a missed tackle percentage of 5.41%
Therefore if Roy did more game time he would be more effective... on paper. Make of that what you will.

| Just wondering, but if we were to identify a lower tier RU player who had the potential (say of the Mike Nicholas genus) but was unproven and 20+ , how could we test him or bring him up to speed? Is this another problem with the current limitations of the under 19s set up?

| Ashton was top tackler versus leeds with 44 ,always in the thick of it ,given its his 1st season in super league and the amount of work him and Hilly are having to do ,I think he's been a great signing ,hope he stays for a long time

Looks inevitable that top teams are going to sort this themselves with some kind of reserve league ,dual reg isn't working ,coaches want control over their players ,position and game time , U19s ,returning injured players and some signings need a steppingstone before being thrust into this pretty intense new format

There was a lad training with the U19s for a couple of weeks, a RU from Dubai of South Sea Island heritage who was a really big unit but as he was top age they didn't get around to giving him a game. The Reserve Grade would be ideal for 'AN Other' trial players.
Just like the old Slalom Lager days!
