Why cant we have Category A games and Category B games like in football with different prices to try and bring more people in to the so called smaller games. because the price is why people have started to pick and choose which games they go to. if we play a so called small game nowadays a lot of fans will think, easy game runaway victory ill give this one a miss and save 20/30 pound +'"
It sounds a good idea but lowering the price for some games may mean you get a few extra coming in but the club may still lose out financially.
Also, away fans would need to be charged a consistent price over the season. It's unfair that Wigan fans pay £20 for the West Stand but Wakefield pay £15. This would be hard to do given that anyone can buy a ticket in any stand for a Rugby game. The only way I could see to do it using my example above is all away fans pay £15. Cat A away fans would pay £15 if they were a season ticket holder and purchased the ticket from their own club and the other Cat A fans would have to pay the Cat A price.
I can't see it working really.

| I think away tickets should be set at an x amount and all clubs follow that guideline, they can make it cheaper if they choose but no higher than x
Clubs could introduce the away season ticket, with coach travel and ticket included in the cost.

3076_1671446335.jpg SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS
For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

I like that idea of giving the discounted price for away season holders if they purchased from their own club.

| Hunslet have done it this year, they seem to have based their categories on away support rather than quality of opposition. Not sure how it has worked for them though.

But we all know that if something like this were introduced you would get comments like "ohhhhh, so last week we paid £15 to get in but this week its £20 just because its Wigan" within hours of the ticket prices being announced. One fair price for all every time.

so people would moan that matchday ticket prices would have only been reduced on around half of the games? obviously no pleasing some people then.

They would also complain about the increase in the Wigan price, you don't just decrease the prices for "lesser" games and not increase for "bigger" ones.

there is supposed to be what? 7.5k season ticket holders who dont come into it, so for the last 2 games we've only had around 2000 pay on the day including away fans. so say 2000 paying £20 (assuming they're all adults) brings in £40,000 extra revenue. at one point we were getting 11.5k attendances even for small games so say if we started getting 11.5k again at £15 a ticket then that is £60,000 for what would be a "lesser game" then the club wouldn't have to up the price for a "bigger" game as you put it. either way dropping below the 10k mark recently is worrying. maybe the club should just put me in charge?

| Looking at our home attendances, we are 6.9% down on last year. I read on another website that SL attendances in general were down by 12% this year. However, one of our matches was badly affected by the weather - snow. And we still have the pies to visit us, last year the match attracted 13,800 ish which I would hope we can at least match this year.

| Sky have to take some account for the drop in attendances...
Tonight (Mon 10th) Salford v Wakey,
Then (Mon 17th) Leeds v Widnes,
Are both away teams in these really going to take many over on a Monday??
Okay so I have only mentioned two games here, but then factor in all the Friday night games that they expect people to break there necks travelling to after work etc and you can see why people will stay at home at watch instead.
Maybe sitting down and thinking about which games to show and when would help and would also help promote the game to the "neutrals" seeing full (or near to full) stadiums may just swing the balance of them coming to a game.

Flaws with your argument.....
(working on increasing the crowd by a further 2000 to 11500)
2000 extra people at £15 = £30,000
2000 existing non-season ticket holders pay £15 instead of £20 = -£10000
So buy reducing the price to £15 you get an extra £20000 BUT
What happens if you only get an extra 700 fans ............ Extra = 700 x £15 = £10500 less £10000 lost income = £500 extra
The above also doesnt factor in any reduction they would have to give season ticket holders for the "cheaper" games.
The recent "under 10k" crowds have been games where physically the away support was very very low. Reduced price tickets are unlikley to encourage more fans to travel from Hull on a friday night and Salford fans are a law to themselves.
If simply dropping ticket prices worked then all the SL clubs would have been doing it for years (just like Bradford !!!)

| I don't see why you wouldn't want to travel on a Friday night... It's the start of the weekend. It's a perfect time to travel.
