Harlequins' marketing of their club, with relation to traffic going through their turnstiles, is quite frankly, pathetic.

Crusaders, well lets just reserve judgement on them for at least another 2 or 3 seasons

As for jdrocket's hope for Harlequins to go unbeaten throughout the season.......so, that means 2 victories over Warrington....yeah, shrewd, that one. As a prediction, I think the number of their defeats this season, will be in double figures. The've had a good start to the season (3 games), but so what. New coach syndrome, a poor Leeds performance and a dour game against Cats, do not a season, make.

Well that's not what I meant. I was hoping for a good season from them, unbeaten was an astonomical stretch. If they were capable it would do wonders for increasing the appeal of the side in a very profitable area.

But if we take this extreme argument that they go unbeaten, they also beat Wigan, Saints, Leeds and Huddersfield twice. There would be no problem.

I have clarified several times that I just hope they have a great season and that i am impressed they have gone so far unbeaten.

Quins have had good starts to the season before now. In 2008 they were 2nd in the table by Round 5, but were then undone by a horrific run of injuries and their squad depth wasn't enough to maintain their results.

I genuinely hope for them that, injury wise, they have a season similar to ours last year. I'd like to see them do well.

The average finishing position of the London side since SL began is 8th. Warrington's is 7th.

And people seem to think if they perform well on the pitch they are going to suddenly start attracting huge crowds. They even finished second once and they've made the cup final. Has any of that helped their crowds, no. Until they get somebody in like the great Peter Deakin to help with the marketing then however well the team is doing will be irrelevant.

Success is a factor. The casual voters don't want to go and watch a team that's losing every week, and/or playing boring unattractive Rugby. Quins need a mixture of both on-field entertainment and good marketing in order to increase their gate, either one or the other won't do the trick on their own.

As mentioned above (under the name Broncos) they got to Wembley

They also had (admittedly, at the end of their trophy laden years) two of modern RL's biggest names, in Offiah and Edwards

Richard Branson, one of Britain's top achieving and famous businessmen got involved (although not financially)

The RFL have bent over backwards to accomodate them, by rule bending, and ignoring regulations, which other teams get correctly dealt with

...and Quins still manage to make a bit of a mess of it.

Seriously, who is/has been in charge or allowed to run this club for the life of Super League? Laurel and Hardy, The Chuckle Brothers? It's becoming a bit more than a joke now.

Quins aren't the only club. Wakefield didn't learn the lessons of two winding up petitions from HMRC that they sraped through by the skin of their teeth and still screwed up their financial budgets to the point that they appear to have forgotten they had to pay a tax bill and went in to administration/sale to avoid a third one being issued.

Bad administration is bad administration. Quins deserve no more or no less criticism for it than any of the heartland clubs that have also made a monumental ****up of things. (edit, oops, I expected the profanity filter to catch that one on my behalf)

The RU team do well enough, crowd-wise
