| I think that was the point sally was making via the medium of sarcasm.

| Pieman if you haven't been on this board much, I was taking the mick out of some of the Wire fans on here who said Richards shouldn't have been in the running for the award because he wasn't a forward and only forwards should be considered for an award like Man of Steel (obviously the agenda behind this was that Morley or Westwood should have been MoS, I doubt they would have been protesting if Chris Hicks was shortlisted)
Given what our fans generally think of Fielden and Coley I was inviting them to agree with me that one of them would have been a worthy winner.

| It's 'player of the season' not 'man of steel'.... If Ryan atkins wins it next year I won't change my opinion on the naming convention.
'man of steel' indicates the player with the most steel... And to say hodgson has more steel than graham or Morley is inncorrect in my opinion.

I agree. If I had a slip of paper in front of me that asked me to vote for a Player of the Season, I would vote differently than if it said Man of Steel.
However, regardless of the definition Pat has had a great season and deserved a pat on the back.
Third time lucky for our Moz next year

| I think there should be an overhaul in the way in which the awards are done.... they can dress them up with 'tough man' titles if they want..... I would have the following categories
Player of the year
Forward of the year
Back of the year
Young player of the year
Young forward of the year
Young back of the year

The reason that it's Man of Steel is that when it first started in the seventies it was sponsored by a steel company. The name stayed after the sponsorship ended.

No it doesn't the man of steel award goes to the person who is judged to have made the biggest impact on the season. Not 'best player award' at all.
