| We need to get a grip so far 3000 people have died from it...... 25k people a day die if starvation. The reason corona is in the news is because it affects the rich and starvation doesn't.

I’m not sure Karen Carpenter would have agreed.

Well said mate. I'm sure the thousands of homeless sleeping on the streets in sub-zero termperatures tonight would put corona pretty low down on their list of concerns.

If the flu jab was that effective, 10-30 thousand wouldn't die each year in the UK.

Ironic. The figure would be much higher if the huge steps taken to control it hadn't been put into place.

Considerably more than 30 thousand people would die instead.

| Seeing as we have such as schools & offices being shut down because of coronavirus ,i was wondering what happens with aircraft when we travel....are they disinfected on every turn round when passengers have disembarked or are they just left to be mobile virus incubators ?

I would think coronavirus would worry a lot of them, as they are a group at high risk and will have little access to medical support.
Also while it seems cool to scoff at stuff like this, and say "its all a fuss over nothing", remember people can hear you who are in the at risk group or have close relatives who are in the at risk group. If you have elderly relatives suffering from critical illnesses, or young children with health issues then coronavirus presents a serious mortality risk, so a lot of people who appear to be "panic buying" or overreacting, are just worried that they are going to end up getting ill and passing it on to a relative to whom it would be very dangerous.

I doubt it, landed in teneriffe yesterday with jet2, one of the stewardesses told me they have 10 minutes beween the plane emptying and the next passegeres getting on to clean the cabin before the next passengers board, they have just under an hour to refuel, load and unload, get the passengers on and clean the plane between flights

| Fatality rate'll stay relatively low for as long as the worst cases can be given proper medical care. However, the virus is very transmissible so if numbers climb rapidly that won't be possible. Hence all the efforts to manage the spread. If such a point is reached, it'll be no picnic for those left on their own to care for a loved one who's fading away, drowning in their own juices or rotten with sepsis. Of course it may not come to this though that might well depend on how rigorously the control methods can be applied. I don't normally get terrifically excited about media fuelled disasters but in this instance I think I'll choose to be sensible and go with the precautionary principle.

| There is something uncomfortable about the "hysteria" concerning this virus...
California declared a state of emergency after one elderly man with underlying health conditions died from the virus.
Yet someone will march into a school with an automatic weapon and shoot multiple kids and nothing happens......
Its a strange world...
