This is what is starting to annoy me with Smith. He clearly has his favourites and won't drop Hughes, Evans or Russell when it's been justified.
I get the feeling he rewards those who act like consummate professionals in training and off the field (which is fair enough) but won't reward those in form who perhaps are not necessarily the most dedicated trainers.

Its a giveaway it really is ... its a fact he almost bombed that opportunity like it or not
.... I bet your glad ratchford missed him out and passed straight to Lineham at the end.....
C'mon FB, you can't say it's a fact that he almost bombed it; no matter how convinced you are that you are right, you have to admit it's an opinion. The only fact I can see relating to this is that the majority of opinion so far on here is that Atkins did the right thing.

I'm a pedantic lover * so have to point it out. I appreciate this post says a lot about me, and it's not positive. Hopefully you and others will forgive me, but at least agree it's better than having a pop at one of own for scoring a great try!
Now, sort it out please!!
Sorted. Thanks.

| I think it could be stretching the imagination to expect Lineham to fly in from 40 or 50 yards & ,seeing as we were chasing the game ,the better option for Atkins would be to pass inside for a try under the posts instead of setting up a touchline conversion. As it was Atkins backed himself & scored under the posts & showed an example of intelligent play.
As for the game, we scored some good tries & were only let down by lack of respect of the basics & a dodgy ref...get the basics sorted & we might see 80 minute performances with results to match.

| Sorry but Jack hughes has been poor since round 1 so that's not an explanation/mitigation....and if it was then he'd need taking out of the firing line. Not having a pop as i liked him last season but he's been less than average in every single game this season.

| I think the man most concerned about his form will be Jack Hughes himself. He really is making some very simple errors. Every time he plays the ball I worry he's going to drop it. He was really steady last year.

| Atkins was a big plus and he did a couple of decent passes. No critic from me. well done Ryan.
Team fitness also was a big plus, no way would we have won without it, which is also as disappointing as much as it is a bug plus.

that maybe so but the whole stand around me groaned in unison when the simple pass never happened....granted it quickly changed to cheers when he broke through..... even in the pub after the game the grandfather of a Wire player backed Atkins because he was convinced "he must have heard a shout on his inside from wakey player, and thats why he never passed" so he knew the pass to Lineham was the right one.
I'm not sure i'm on this forum to win competitions as to how many people like my posts over someone else's.
And that aside there have been many posts about Atkins inability to pass or to create tries for his winger long before we started this terrible season....
like I said he's big strong and has some pace ....he just isnt smart enough to do a simple draw and pass....
We won it doesn't matter right now....

| Like I said Atkins was smart vs Wake, and I'm probably the most vocal about his passing issues.
If he a Lineham can keep up what they did vs Wake and more, it will finally live up to the potent threat is has always promised.
It's now our right side that is pants. Since the release of Bridge it's been a shambles.

| I read the posts about Atkins try last night but wanted to see the incident on the video before saying people were moaning for nowt.
Well I have now, so I'll say it. What a miserable shower.
I think people go to watch rugby expecting it to be like a computer game where every play is the same and you have 20/20 vision of everything around you.
The reality is that a rugby player has a split second to make that sort of decision, which they will make based on what they see, how strong they feel physically and how much they trust themselves to execute a skill like pass the ball or step their man.
Atkins made just such a judgement in the incident in question, and delivered the absolute best possible outcome: a try beneath the posts.
Ryan doesn't and won't get it right every time in those situations. Yesterday he did. Now suck it up and congratulate him on a great try.

It was a genuine bit of excitement to see him steam roller his opposition. He is the best centre at the club, despite his faults. His strength is incredible.

I'm not sure you have read the posts to be honest,
From my first post on the subject
1] Correct decision to play golf lefty. .today was the worst professional Warrington side I have ever seen. ....that said ...at the end, I danced like a sailor in trafalgar square on VE night.
2] Atkins didn't contemplate passing and was incredibly fortunate he stepped out of a tackle and finished himself. ..but it was a massive pointer to how we cannot do the basics. ..
from my second
3]firstly I'm not having a go at Atkins specifically. He's not a great passer of the ball and never has been, today it was a highlight of how the whole team is lacking an application of the basics....
( as also mentioned in point 2)
4]I like Atkins he's big strong and fast .....but he cant pass the ball and this proves it....
is it a bad thing?? sometimes yes ....sometimes like today ...he got away with it.....
Ive made a pretty reasoned argument to why I thought his particular effort was an example of this current warrington side making what I believe were poor amateurish decisions.
Christ there were people behind me saying they "hate " kevin Brown.....whats all that about
I've made discussion point on a piece of play..... Ive not asked for anyone to be dropped or sacked Ive not threatened to burn my season ticket or never go again I'm not even "sad" about Superleague I love it.
I just think we are a bit ...... I'm allowed to think that....
Ive got to say some of you lot are bit ing precious.....

Be careful you get the superfans on at you, describing how you must have a negative attitude when you are not cock a hoop that we beat Huddersfield and Wakefield at home by 2 points.
I read some Facebook posts saying how it was a "great performance" against Wakefield Someone is even baiting on the WG website "Where are all the Smith out brigade now".
I think I have to accept now that the majority of fans think we are somewhere between "great" and "on the way to the Top 4" and my view is way out of kilter. That's why I was on my motorbike yesterday instead of going to the game.

If that is the case then he could be given compassionate leave until he is back in the game. He has been poor all season.
