NO. But I am sitting nervously.
YES. I’ll say that on here, but not in person, as I don’t want to get beaten up… The fact is (as Sally pointed out on another thread) that Powell transformed Featherstone and Castleford, and had a big hand in setting Leeds up for a period of success. This was no accident.
I think the problem with Warrington is partly down to humility. We have had a culture of players who earn big bucks but get comfortable. They’re generally past stars who have nothing to prove and although they perform to a high standard generally (down to sheer talent) they don’t have that drive to excel anymore. There’s no incentive. Now Powell has come and turned this comfortable culture upside down. He won’t let the players choose to sit next to their mates at lunch, he won’t let them set their working hours on their terms, and he’s analysing their weaknesses with such attention to detail that they’re offended by any criticism. Added to this he’s changed the style of play, the calls, and he’s told them they’ve got to [iearn[/i a new contract if they want to stay.
Now, we can argue whether he’s gone about this in the right way, and whether he didn’t foresee the anxiety and the loss of confidence that this upheaval would create. However, this time last year we were begging for someone to come in and turn things upside down and overhaul the squad whilst bringing through young talent. And Powell certainly has a history for that. I think this also a learning curve for him though, as previously he’s been dealing with a bunch of fresh, humble and mostly young players who are easy to mould, rather than a comfortable, set-in-their-ways family of past masters who have found a cushy retirement gig to top up the pension.
I’m all in til easter ‘23 and live in hope.

| No - but it's gonna be close
Yes - But with the squad we have next year, if we're in the same situation after around 10-12 games i think he'll be shown the door. But i think we're gonna be THE team to beat next year. On form we're gonna have a dominant forward pack, with a S-H-i-t load of skill and speed to burn. VERY VERY excited for 2023.

You up late? Or did you wake early? Thought I’d be the only one around at 4am on a Sunday.

| 2/14 = 14% think we'll be relegated
7/14 = 50% for Powell to stay. (Spanish Wire said yes but I think he meant no going by his comments. It's just over half if Spanish Wire did mean yes.
(I think that's all correct up until now)
Very interesting, a lot more backers of Powell still than I thought.

You can also argue that if the players who can't or won't deliver must be removed, that the person responsible for the terrible season this club has suffered should also be removed. You say that perhaps this is part of a learning curve for Powell, well the club has paid too much to extend his education. I'm not even sure Powell thinks he has done anything wrong. Can we afford to gamble having this guy around any longer, if we leave it until Easter next year any decent coaches will be employed elsewhere, now is the time. The board were bold bringing him in, they should be bolder by saying goodbye.

| You ever heard that phrase, you can't get rid of all the players, easier to get rid of the manager?
Well this year, you're seeing the opposite, the manager can't get rid of a lot of the players, that's partially what's making ppl uncomfortable, we're just not used to this.
I didnt want Powell in the first place, but I don't think we're gonna get relegated (refs will help us at some point) so I'm sticking with him in the rebuild

| What have the Powell supporters seen this season that convinces them that he's the man for the job? All he has done so far is get rid of a load of players which anyone could've done. The rugby has been nothing short of atrocious and all I hear from Powell is excuses. If he picks his 3 ex Cas mates next week then he's lost the plot and should be immediately fired on the pitch after another drubbing at Huddersfield.
