It's not whataboutery, the whole reason for Johnson's visit was hospital-related. Our Conservative MP, who accompanied him, is lobbying for a new hospital. Him getting a positive impression of the town makes it more likely for that to happen, regardless of the fact a new hospital for us is well overdue.
As I said, things are never that black or white but I mentioned in my first post in this thread where my vote went. But I think that is irrelevant here. We live in a democracy and this country, and this town, gave him more votes than anyone else.
I just find it hard to be angry at the club for a photo op with the man the town voted for.

Well they didn't vote for him.
So you need to do some maths.

Is he? It’s a shame Mr Carter lobbied against giving free school meals to starving kids.

Sadly more people voted for Conservative in the town than Labour. Not sure what maths I need to do?

He is, yeah, and hopefully he's successful in doing so but probably won't be.
And you're right, it is a shame. One of the reasons I don't like him and thankfully he's not my MP.

Indeed. 2019 Election Results.
Warrington South - Conservative: 28,187, Labour: 26,177
Warrington North - Conservative: 19,102, Labour: 20,611
Warrington Total - Conservative: 47,289 Labour: 46,788
Maybe this was the mathematics Sadfish was enquiring about.

| This thread is far too political. It was just a publicity stunt. There aren’t many chances to advertise a Rugby League club by giving a shirt to a World Leader. The nearest we got previously was Nancy Pelosi.
FWIW I believe neither Pelosi or Johnson or any cronies were in the away end at Saints so we can rest assured no one will be accusing us of ‘selling out’ our principles in the future. And even if they did become Barmy Army regulars it would at least open more opportunities for wealthy investment, ready for when the salary cap goes.
I believe we are also Putin’s RL club of choice, he just doesn’t like the colours.

Ah, you brought out the technicality. How clever of you.
The point remains either way you look at it, the Conservatives were the most popular party in the town. And Johnson was voted in thanks to our flawed FPTP system.
My point is, due to those facts, I find it hard to be outraged at the club, even though I don't like it personally.

The crux of the matter remains that Warrington RLFC gave a political platform to a divisive, unprincipled, serial liar and no amount of your whataboutary changes that.
You talk about democracy, but this guy has redefined “do as I say not as I do” semi- authoritarianism as democracy, a decent guy would have resigned by now, but the likes of Andy Carter reject the opportunity to remove him from the office he disgraces.
To suggest that it should be acceptable to the Warrington public along the last national election voting lines is pathetic and desperate.
Quite clearly the big majority of the Warrington voters , including many decent conservative voters, will be appalled with Warrington RLFC in supporting this shoddy attempt at vote garnering for Andy Carter in the Warrington RLFC fan base
Indeed local democracy totally rejects the guy and what he stands for.
But at least Johnson will be pleased he can rely on you.
Warrington RLFC should hang their heads in shame

No you said "I just find it hard to be angry at the club for a photo op with the man the town voted for."
Which is not true as more people didn't vote for his party than did in the town.
My point is correct, it is not a technicality.
