| I remember watching a game against Saints at Wilderspool in the 60s ,the pitch was literally a mudbath & after 10 minutes it was hard to distinguish between the player & the rain continued throughout the match. We actually won 6-4 & i think ended a very long unbeaten run for Saints.

| As a non-Wire fan, I think that the Greenwood try should not have been allowed. If the rules say it is a try then they need changing. OK this could have been the universe leveling things up after the Gelling Falcon but if I had to change just one rule it would the Greenwood try (both do need changing).
In the end Salfords score three tries from kicks and one from a dummy half run. The rain was a big leveler and Wire played a lot better than Wigan did.

I do remember a game against Wigan where it rained a lot and almost every tackle saw the ball dislodged.
I actually think it was a credit to both teams that there was so few spilled balls.
I know the conditions weren’t quite as bad for Leeds, but that was an exceptional display of rugby in the conditions and perhaps disguised how bad the conditions were.'"
Couple of years ago we played at Cas in about 3" of water at their place and won, so we can do it.

I seem to recall that was fine margins too ( but my memory isn’t what it should be). I hope that Austin has learned his lesson, and doesn’t ever try miracle passes in those conditions ever again.

The best of it was that a massive gap opened up in the Salford line when he had the ball in his hands which 9 times out of 10 he'd have been through and scored. The miracle pass wasn't needed.
I came to terms with the loss fairly quickly.
Pi**** off at how we played but no real complaints about the end result.

38352_1407962301.jpg Packs Win Games
Great Packs Make All Backs Look Class

It's academic anyway. If that 17 had applied some nous and having twice engineered two score leads had applied some game management, we'd have won.'"
Having a utility back on the bench is great. But when you drop a back like Hodgson and have no cover elsewhere, you feck up. Having technically one interchange prop, you technically feck up. Spectrum’s apart.

Before the game ... I said to the missus ... "I have looked at the Salford team and really they haven't got anyone apart from INU that we would prefer to have in our side". I still think that despite of the result. We have a decent team who are actually a bit more exciting at the moment ... and that's why I am so disappointed to lose. I thought we would win all the way through.
BTW Salford made loads of mistakes as well (including at Full Back) ... but we do tend to forget them.

Salford didn't play well. They simply hung in there, while we were neither good or intelligent enough to kill them off.
Difference was, when they were near our line they always looked likely to score. When we got near their line we never looked as potent.
Out of curiosity, what were the territory stats, because it felt like for most of the game we had the upper hand, but were just ineffective at capitalising?
