| IMO a good, solid signing....well done Wires!
He's always looked dangerous with ball in hand whenever we have played him in the past. His recruitment strengthens our back division and adds some much needed pace.

I get your point but were there any real prospect of Roberts leaving then we'd need every spare penny to find another front-line half.

4. M. Brown / T. King

6. K. Brown / Patton
7. Roberts
Left Centre is the big question mark for me. Does a Fit Atkins get back in the team? or is he made to wait if others are not deserving of being dropped? I'm inclined to say that the days of Smith's favorites walking back into the team are over and that they are made to either wait or prove they warrent a starting jersey.

| Hell of a signing and a great show of intent from the club. Exactly what we need a born finisher with pace on the wing.
149 tries in 151 games with Wigan. Outstanding record.

Atkins has been the one player who has posed a danger to opposition defences so far this season so he deserves to go stright back in when fit.

His pace is the greatest positive that this signing will bring.
Our lack of it as been the standout factor so far this season and it provides a significant mental advantage to an opposition when it knows it's unlikely to be hit with a counter attack when attacking themselves - it's the equivalent of the boxer fighting the opponent who he knows can't ko him. He can attack with more confidence knowing he's not going to be picked off. Particularly against higher level opposition this is crucial.
I'd like to think that as Roberts settles, then a right hand attack of Charnley, BMM and Roberts could be pretty lethal?

| Quote: Asgardian13 "Why would signing a ( much needed ) winger be influenced by the future of one of our half-backs?
Ratchford has been tried and failed as a stand-off. He clearly is more comfortable chiming into the attack from full back from time-to-time rather than carrying the pressure of being a main pivot and playmaker for 80 minutes.
Brown is cover for our wingers and could make a good case for being slected ahead of Lineham. He can also cover fullback and with Jack Johnson out for the season then the only way I can see Russel make the starting line-up is as cover for Ratch should he suffer an injury.'"
You didnt quote the rest of my post, which said if Roberts stays, it will be interesting to see who makes way for Charnley. I was just putting it out there.....Mitch Brown has looked the best out of all personnel that have played wing this season up to now IMO.
I am not a sure if it would work with Ratch at HB. But to be fair to him, we probably looked the best we have going forward in that last 15mins against Hull when he was playing in the halves.
As i said in my previous post, when Charnley is ready to go, it will be interesting to see who makes way and if it is a straight swap, or if there will be positional changes.......
Either way...great signing. We havent had proper decent pace in a long time (Penny aside).....

I think Russell is feeling the days are over too. Probably seen the last of him in PnB if we can offload him

Mitch Brown will obviously miss out. Unlucky on him but Lineham and Charnley are far better.
It'll be: Lineham, Atkins, Goodwin, Charnley.
Hopefully Charnley will be playing outside Goodwin, if it Atkins we may as well not have signed him.

| I still can't workout how Ratchford has been ousted as a failed halfback.
The spell he played at 6 was easily the best hb display I'd seen at Warrington this season...and by some length.

| Well this signing gives us options now assuming M Brown can play full back, wing, centre.

I agree that he played well in that short spell against Hull, however I'm not convinced we could get away playing in such a off-the-cuff way, as he did on that night, on a regular basis.
I'd actually love to see a more unregimented type of half back, harking back to the Phil Blake style player of yesteryear, but unfortunately I think those days are long gone.
