| Didn't wigan used to be one of the cheaper away games? Just picked up tickets for tomorrow and £22 & £15 for an adult and child I guess with the Latics not pulling in the money they used to, the stadium has to be paid for somehow.

| I've not got an issue with £22, I'm guessing that sitting in the East Stand at our place may cost more than that. Just a bit surprised as I'm sure that the last time I went to watch us play wigan at the Pie Dome (missed last year due to holiday) it was more like £16-£18 for an adult. Taking my lad for the first time and was a bit shocked at £37 when in my mind I was expecting more like £25. My memory is even more shot than my knees so it could well be that the £16-£18 figure in my head was more like ten years ago rather than two.
So far my lad has shown little interest in coming to matches, I just hope we put in a performance, get a result and generate an atmosphere that persuades him to want to go again.

| I think Wigan away is the best atmosphere of any match we have, home ones included.

And also the worst and most hostile as well, as it brings out a lot of jeb ends, kids boozing on the train and going fo nights out.
In a weird quirk prior to missing last year due to being in edinburgh( i was actually coming home and at Wigan NW 10 minutes after kick off, annoyingly) i've seen either kids with, or stewards confiscating glass bottles of booze, or they're rolling down the stairs from the back.

| I stay away from where those idiots sit and drive there, so just enjoy the noise from that stand. The view is brilliant too.

Likewise, but even if i stay halfway up, i'm still seeing the carnage and effect come down the stairs past me.
That being said, like your original point, i'd still use that for example to a new spectator.

| I think you are better stood at the top with the dick heads because all the thrown ale goes down hill. Just remember to take your gum shield, boxing gloves & lucky horse shoe.

It'll be tight for 25/30 mins I reckon and then you'll pull clear. Wire by 20.'"
Not a chance in hell we'll win by 20.. This could go either way.

| Quote: Hatfield Town Wire "The tackle on ratchford in the grand final should of warranted a straight red card and diffiantly a ban. Players in rugby league have sometimes short careers due to the nature of the game , they don't earn a fraction of football players. But tackles like that can end careers. It was a shocking tackle, you just have to look at the manager to see where it stems from, looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp when he starts snarling and throwing his toys out the pram when a decision goes against his team. I was go as far to say he purposely took ratchford out of the game. Thugs by name thugs by nature
Just hope sandow a up for it Friday and he can go pie smashing !!!'"
It baffles me how people can go so long watching the game and still not understand the rules. Apologies if you're new to the sport, or only saw it at the time and haven't seen a replay, but Hansen was way higher than the knee on that tackle (around the hips IIRC). It's unfortunate that Stef got injured but a penalty at most if the ref has called held and Hansen wasn't judged to be committed to the tackle by that point. Never a yellow, red or ban.

Shoulder charge requires rotation of the body, contrary to what many fans think it isn't just a tackle where the defender doesn't use his arms.

And then they changed the ruling in the off season, cos it was a house trick

| Sorry not to reply earlier, yes i have only been watching for last ten years, I don't know all the rules, I've never played the sport , I'm from down south. I was in to footie as a kid . But never in the last so many years hive seen a tackle so deliberate to cause someone harm or to take someone out of a game. Don't get me wrong it might of not changed the result . The power had changed, but it was a low
Low trick , only a team like Wigan could of stooped so low, before you go on about bennie Westwood in the grand final, yes he was wrong with the swinging arm or punch but I think if u was to to ask him or other people he didn't think for one minute he would force another player of the pitch or to change the game so dramatically ...

| I think that's what we enjoyed about the GF. Westwood deliberately went to get Green out of the game so it would be easier. The injuries you picked up were the karma of that incident and Blake getting MOTM and scoring a try just added to it. When Ben Flower got sent off against Saints we got our karma by losing a game that 90% of the RL world thought we were nailed on to win.
There is a moral in there somewhere
The tackling and laying on issue is one that is moaned about by so many other fans but how many penalties do we concede by doing it? Next to none. Conclusion - Because it's legal and it isn't our fault that other teams haven't mastered the timing aspect of it or how to do it effectively yet. I thought the aim of the game was to beat the opposition, so slowing the other side down so they can't make as many metres seems like a good game plan to me. You should write to the RFL and tel them it's not fair that Wigan have found a way to upset the oppositions rhythm. And on the subject of folk bleating on about rule changes don't forget it was a certain Wigan person who had the salary cap put in place so teams like Warrington had more of a chance because nobody could get near us. Probably be easier if all the clubs just balloted about the things about Wigan Warriors they want changing to benefit them and we will accommodate you all. It's a pity that everyone want's to be us but they can't change the colour of their jerseys.
