Quote: mark_m "But you don't play a professional contact sport.

No player is more likely to be injured more than any other. It comes down to physical preparation and just plain luck.

And quite frankly the way some of the people on this forum talk about players when this is their livelihood is quite simply astonishing.'"
Rubbish. Most of the said players have heard worse on the pitch + they get paid quite handsomely compared to most of us so if they can't take criticism it's time to pack in.If you don't perform well at work i'd guess you'd get a good rollicking so why not under performing players?Called free speech.

It's all very well demanding we get rid of players who are on contract, no doubt these are not the same people who deride Harris, Sculthorpe and their ilk for a lack of loyalty

Oh dear! When we lose this forum really brings out the worst in our "wonderful supporters". If we'd have snatched it near the end (as we nearly did) prior to the Lunt try ... things would have been so different. Our support was out enthused at the ground and it's really stooping so low on here. I'm guessing many on the forum have never been involved in playing otherwise they'd have more respect for those who try their best on the field.

Quote: WireFanatic III "It's a shame that Simms didn't follow up his actions whilst wearing the BBC microphone. I didn't see him rallying the troops on Saturday like he did against Leigh.'"

It's also a shame certain people are once more looking for a scapegoat, and it's beginning to look like Sim's fits the role. From where I was sitting he was 'rallying the troops'. But surely that's the main role of a captain, or did he leave his armband in the changing rooms?

Remind me to come to your place of work then call you names and criticise everything you do month after month anonymously from behind a keyboard.

Then call for your dismissal even though you may be working injured.

Give your head a wobble.

If we had won this forum would have been empty.

The team has put in some ordinary performances this season and I have lost some interest but the criticism they have received is now getting beyond a joke.

Feel free to as you won't find me there as was made redundant after 17 years last week but that's beside the point. Not saying call the players who get injured + I've never done that but I don't shy away from slating under performing players which there have been quite a few this season so if you want to molly cuddle them that's upto you but being a supporter nigh on 45 years I think gives me the right to express my opinions. Can take getting beat with effort but dog turd performances with a can't be @rsed attitude I can't.

Please point out where I've used Simms as a scapegoat....

No player goes into the field not wanting to do his best. Don't be ridiculous.

Oh mark_m thank God you are on this site. The voice of reason ... as opposed to some ridiculous posts. At the end of last season there were a long list of players who went under the knife. I guess it will be the same this year. I hate the idea that I support the team and pay to watch therefore I am allowed to spout rubbish and to personally insult individuals. e.g. runningman29 " being a supporter nigh on 45 years I think gives me the right to express my opinions" ... we all know what that means.

Whilst I agree that mark is a good poster and look forward to reading his POV (like yours and everyone else's) I would also suggest that one man's reasoned critique is another man's 'spout of rubbish'.

Each to there own I say, as great as it is to be optimistic and supportive, there is also surely a place for criticism? Hopefully it's constructive but without passion that sometimes skews debate whether a rant after a defeat or a bout of giddiness following a famous victory then sport wouldn't quite be sport.

We don't want the forum turning into a virtual version of the Stepford Wives do we? Everything in the garden isn't rosy and opinions on why it isn't are worth debating, unfortunately we have lost more games this season than we are accustomed to recently....ergo.

You might not agree wit him but in defence of running man, the longevity of his 'support' does buy him some 'rights' as he's seen the best of times and also seen us on not quite so top form, even worse than we are now. Equally, I'd always be wary of someone basing their judgement with an opening line, " Well I've been a Wolves fan since 09 and....."

Thanks Rico ... another voice of reason. I've supported Wire since 1957 but now I've heard about the "Stepford Wives" I might broaden my horizon. Can you give us a link?

Some criticism is okay but it needs to be reasoned and with some insight. Lately some of it seems vindictive.

Players give up a lot to play at the highest levels regardless of how well they are compensated (and many are really not paid that well). Hours of preparation and training are then condensed into a very short eighty minutes weekly regardless of their mental and physical state or even knowing their contract is ending. It really isn't comparable to regular employment.
