| Quote: morleys_deckchair "They do have a point though.. If everything goes well, and Sandow loves stockton heath life, we could see 6 years out of him at the top of his game. On his day, he will easily be the best half back in the league.... Smith's man management skills will hopefully get the best from him.
The club should be applauded for this signing IMO.'"
I agree btw I don't know enough about Sandow to make a truly informed judgement, but, I join you and others in applauding the club for having a go, it does sound exciting if he does sign. He does seem unsettled and a new start might just do the trick...on the other hand 'kill or cure'?
My post and reference to Saints was aimed at those knocking a player, Cronk in our case, Savelio in theirs and specifically how opinions might just conveniently change based on whether they signed for your club or not

| Ricky Stuart once called him the "aboriginal Alfie Langer" so suppose that must count for something. If not ever so slightly racist.

| had a look at him on Youtube....looks quick, good feet, puts in some good defence (shoulder charges mainly) and can kick well...both in play and from the kicking tee....IF Mr Smith can sort his head out he'd be a very good acquisition from what I have seen.

| Take away the 'he just needs straightening out' & 'he's worth the risk' sentiments, & look at his stats this season.
His stats this season so far are........
- Ranked 2nd in try assists.
- Ranked 7th for halfbacks in line breaks with 7.
- Ranked 5th for halfbacks for offloads with 8.
- 41 tackles missed, more than any other #7 in the NRL.
- Tackle efficiency of 78.1%, the 4th lowest of all halfbacks in the NRL.
Since 2013 the Eels have a 38% win ratio on games he's played in.

god help us if we ever sign a half back because he has fantastic, solid defence ...as a main attribute

| To me he is as good as Brough in attack but ,without the shoulder charge he can't tackle ,seems to go for ineffective ankle taps ,hopefully we can cover for this

| Since I've supported Warrington ,we've always been about scoring tries ,off the cuff ,entertaining rugby ,to me Sandow will fit Wire perfectly ,Gidley appears a solid ,controlling sort of player

| Some say he can't tackle but I've heard that said about so many players, if he signs I'm sure he will be fine it's his creativity we want.

| In the live games I watched recently, Sandow hardly touches the ball until a kick is required on the last.
The YouTube specials on Sandow's best shows him outstanding.
I'm hoping the apparent laziness in recent games are down to the coaching tactics that Sandow has publicly spoken out about! Or that he no longer gives a sugar because he's coming here.

NRL is very structured and from the reports I've read he wants to play his own game. That's exactly what smith wants from his players. I've said before I don't see enough NRL games to make comment, but he seems a 'Wire' type player? I and most of us I think remember the quote from smith saying he doesn't coach the attack, he likes his teams to play what's in front of them. Most rugby players want to play rugby. I can't think of a better club for him in that regard if I'm honest?
So if he's going to make a go of it, after a couple of instances of leaving clubs under a bit of a cloud, then this is the place for him.
