Playing it on a Friday night is going to be a bit of a nightmare though; will have to book half a day off work.

I'm pretty sure it won't be played on the Friday.

It will be Friday, no question about it.

BBC are showing the Community Shield game between Chelsea and Arsenal on the Sunday afternoon. They are not going to schedule a Challenge Cup semi final opposite it.

It will be played on Friday evening when there will be no clashes especially as due to a number of events in Hull on Saturday, Hull KR have requested to the RFL that they play on the Friday.

"The Ladbrokes Challenge Cup will break new ground this year with a live Friday night semi-final on BBC TV on Friday July 31 with the second televised semi-final taking place on Saturday August 1."

Well then if its at Kr's behest, fook em, lets have it at the stobart stadium.

I'd rather it be at Langtree FMC.

Of course these boards always look at the negative, rather than saying :

"Great move BBC and RFL, live RL on a Friday night on a mainstream channel."

Well if a semi HAS to be played on the Friday night, surely it should be Saints v Leeds? They have less distance to travel than the KR fans.

If the BBC are screening both games, then it depends what slot they want the showpiece game in, which is obviously Leeds V Saints. If they want to make a big deal out of the Friday night fixture then that one will be it. If they expect more viewers on a Saturday afternoon and are already planning to stick the Friday game on BBC3 or whatever, then we'll play on Friday.

Either way, it will be decided by the demands of the broadcaster, not by the RFL or the request of Hull KR. Money talks innit.

I'm not happy anyway. 9pm finish at work that Friday and already confirmed I can't get holiday, so even if it's played at Wythenshawe Town FC I'll still miss the first half and first five minutes of the second half, unless I can get a swap. Unsurprisingly there doesn't tend to be a queue of people desperate to do late shifts on Friday nights though, so that's far from a formality.

Friday night semi finals eh? Brilliant.

BBC3 ,isn't that a channel for the more discerning & high brow viewer ? They'll be have to shoe horn the match in between episodes of South Park & Family Guy.

If the BBC are showing a pre season footy friendly on the Sunday (Community Shield)..
If there any reason that both Semis can't be on the Saturday ? Say one at 2pm and the other at 4pm? I know this will mean 2 commentary teams, but surely this is an option and a hell of a lot better for the fans ?
