Cronk still a SOO half, and prob an Aussie half as well
Problem is that SL is becoming more inferior to the NRL by the week, and despite the marquee ruling don't see the top levels coming

Did you expect a sudden influx of world class NRL players after the Marquee ruling was announced last month ?
The rule doesn't come into play until the start of next season. SL teams have plenty of time still to approach & sign there Marquee player.

As was Matt King when he signed for us.

| Good players will come over because money talks and careers are short.

| Exactly. The marquee rule allows you to go out and spend as much cash as you want on one player.
I'd be throwing the cheque book at him if I were SJM.

And we've not seen Rhys Evans nor Matty Russell much.

| Savelio is one player I'd love to see at Wire.
I really rate him.
Always been very impressed when he's played for Saints.
Then again Cunningham seems to get a lot out of all the players and win the Gf with a crocked team. Now that's impressive. (Said through gritted teeth)....

| Yes, looks like we have indeed signed Savelio;
Age 20
Position BR ( anywhere in pack though)
Original club Latchford
England U16 and U18's international
Height / Weight 188cm, 110Kg
When I have seen him play he has shown good ball handling skills, is very difficult to stop near the line and is reminiscent of Solo in the way he can offload from the tackle. His dad is Lokeni Savelio who played for Widnes and Fax in the 90's (I don't think I remember him) and lives in Warrington.
I suppose the question for me would be why would Saints let him go when they have been training him since the age of 14 and he is just emerging into their first team - I think he has played 15 or so games this year. Have we paid them a big wad to get him ? If so it seems ironic that we have only a handful of local kids that establish themselves in the first team, yet we are having to pay Saints to get one of them back.

| Saints have a big pack w/o
Although they aren't a poor club they don't have the clout we do.
Perhaps they have their feelers out on a position to bring someone in, and because they have a healthy pack, he can be deemed surplus or collateral.

Hi Charlie,
i don`t think its a case of St Helens letting him go. His contract will expire after the end of this season, & to-date they have been unsuccessful in getting him to sign a new one.
If we do sign him, though, they will be entitled to transfer fee given his current age. However I would anticipate that the figure would not be a significant, even if the transfer went to a tribunal.
If he does sign for Wire, the contract should be for a lengthy period, which could be good business & a massive transfer fee to the Wire in the future, if the NRL clubs start to chase him in a couple of years time.
Regards
Boss

| Given the help Wire gave to Saints with GOB on loan during their crisis period, I would hope any transfer deal would be token.

Thanks for that, didn't realise his contract ended this year, that's even better.
