| Of course the match on Saturday is massive, whichever team wins it will go down in history as SL Champions 2013 whatever your views of the current format.
What makes this Saturday more massive, in terms of emotion, for me is that for many of the players it will mark the end of en era, win or lose. From a Wires perspective, Carvell, Brett & Moz (honourable mention to Coops as well) have spilt blood for the club; they have CC medals in the cupboard but if we miss out on Saturday I'll be as gutted, if not more, for them as much myself, the club and players and my fellow Wire fans that they never went down in history as members of a "champion" team. They deserve a fairytale ending and I hope they get it, and I'm nervous as hell for them and no other reason - I know Wigan are in a similar position, but frankly my dear I don't give a damn.
Saturday truly is the natural sunset for a wonderful era in the modern history of the club. Hopefully it will also represent the dawn of an equally joyous period.

| Only on RL Fans could you find supporters playing down the importance of their team winning the league. You couldn't make it up!

| Quote: Les Norton "Not according to Gary Hetherington, and he should know. He's stated previously that the Grand Final brings more money in, through shirt & merchandise sales leading upto the event, and after due to the 'good feeling' created especially in the run up to Christmas. Plus, as the biggest & last game of the year season ticket sales are boosted.
Sounds to me like your trying to play it down because you're not very confident and you're trying to get a come back in to preempt a loss!'"
I guess Gary Hetherington is referring to actually winning the GF, in which case he has to compare that to winning the CC. Obviously, in Leeds, winning the GF is a bigger money raiser for obvious reasons!

| I think it's a much bigger game for us than it is for Wigan. They've won the Grand Final in it's current guise twice before, one as recently as three years ago, and 19 championships in total. They've also won the Challenge Cup this year so have silverware for 2013 in the cabinet no matter what.
We have won three championships in our history, the last of which was 58 years ago, and have nothing else to look back on for this year.
If I was a Wigan fan I wouldn't be worried at all. As a Wire my head is wrecked every time I think about it - which is pretty much all the time!

| This means so much more to us than Wigan, they have had years of success while we were getting thrashed by Saints 80-0 and struggling at Wilderspool on and off the pitch.
Was so gutted last year but we lost to the better team on the day and I just hope we can really turn up after the experience last year!
Still not been able to watch that game again was devestated!

| Quote: the flying biscuit "complete utter poop.
to suggest the only club never to have played outside of the Top flight that won its first Championship before Leeds did before Widnes did before Bradford did. that played in front of 120,000 people in a challenge cup final.
That had the greatest player ever to put boots on, who scored 200 and odd more tries than Billy Boston, a team that has won every honour in the game bar a 16 year old WCC competition. the team that was the first club team to beat the last defeated Touring Australians. A team that has recently had players like Langer Johns Davies, Boyd Morley play for them... a team that even when it has been a bit poop still has had great players and a tremendous Following.........is not a big club then you may as well pack in the games gone to feck.............
I am Bobby Ewing and the Last 30 years of Watching Wires has been a bad dream and I was just having a shower......
its great you are up for but to start to compare us with london is pathetic ............after all we've been here before we had a chance in 95 if you remember we had a chance last year too..........
I hope we win ...because it will makes us champions and we'll have beaten wigan on the way.....it wont re-write our history...... Bevan will still be the greatest ever. Phil Blake and Davies will still be rugby genious's and Boyd will still be a god....
it wont dim the games I saw at wilderspool and I wont say we used to be small and crap just because we may win on Saturday, because we weren't small and crap.....
you could have simply wrote something positive like
"Lets do it for Greg"
and Feck all else needed to be said.........'"

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "When the Wire fans went to see the Pope, they must have been hard of hearing (perhaps they should have gone to Lourdes)
What he actually said was, Wigan 19 times Champions, and 19 times Challenge Cup Winners.
Now my friends, that is REAL history.'"
-nice to have club history i guess, for those who tend to look backwards,( its 2013 not 1955)i prefer to live in the here and now and look towards the future, but speaking of history ,wire can start to create their own -g/f -history,starting on sat!onwards and upwards for the wire i say!
