Madge was and remains a well-respected coach in Australia. Whatever the Wigan haters here think of him, in the land where RL is a big sport, Maguire is a big name.

I can't believe you have compared Michael Maguire to Don Revie.

At times the criticism of anyone connected with Wigan gets a bit silly.

Deano, mcguire is from a hau5 melbourne team that got in a lot of trouble, he comes to these shores and brings the chicken wings and lying on (cannot be disputed) tactics. He may well have got a job again over there due to bending the rules to win but he is by no means well respected.

Madge(sick) was a number three behind Bellamy and Kearney at Melbourne.

Maguire is not a "big name" in the NRL - he may turn out to be but at present he is not. The likes of Bennett, Sheens and Stuart are.

Marjorie coaches a successful style of rugby league as does Tony Smith it's just that they're very different. I'm happy to watch the type that Warrington play and I'm sure that Wigan fans prefer theirs.

Yes, you're right. Maguire, despite being named as new coach at South Sydney, arguably the most famous and historic club in Australian RL, and which is now co-owned by one of the biggest movie stars in the world, is not a big name in Australia.

Will give him the history bit they have plenty of that but they haven't done anything in recent years and are known mostly over here for being Russell Crowe's team then anything else.

So they are really historic and famous then... :

The won the inaugural Aussie premiership. They have won more premierships than any other club.

They are one of only two foundation clubs in the NRL to have survived in their original form.

When they were excluded from the NRL a decade ago there was a massive public campaign for their reinstatement, with tens of thousands of protesters marching through Sydney.

They are a big club and for many people in Oz represent the spirit of RL and its roots in working class areas of Sydney.

But hey, what do I know compared with a Warrington fan....
