Gleeson has given them a lift by signing, agreed. But with respect to Hull, they didn't need to do anything complicated to beat us yesterday. Gleeson rarely touched the ball for a start.
And I'm not one to take anything away from a triumphant opposition, ie, I was quick to throw praise at both Hudds and Catalan for their victories over us. Yesterday we just offered Hull the two points gift-wrapped.

| The way I saw it was that you were getting nothing out of our pack so you panicked and tried to throw it wide at every opportunity which is where the errors came. Had you stuck to your game plan the chances may have presented themselves (unless that was your plan, who knows?) but the forward pass aside you didn't look like scoring in the second half. Hull just bossed the midfield and for once our kicking game was decent.
The way you responded to going behind was to do what we normally do and that is try to score on every set, when simply completing and kicking well will present you with try scoring opportunities.
We were nothing special yesterday, we just played a simple game at a high intensity and your forwards couldn't match it.

Pretty much how I saw it.
We lacked the patience and we should have backed our pack all the way. Also, you had Tom Briscoe, we didn't. Our 'ace in the pack' Monas, just didn't play well yesterday, so we were out trumped.

Not how I saw it at all. Hull were shattered in the second half and were there for the taking. We were containing them comfortably when they had the ball, we just kept giving it back to them via penalties, chargedowns and then dropping it early in our tackle count. When we did keep the ball for a few tackles, we were making plenty of yards and loads of breaks. But then we played panic rugby and threw wild passes and daft offloads.
We actually beat ourselves. If we'd cut out the mistakes and the panic rugby, I think we'd have won easy.

| Best team won the game, no question. Most of our problems can be traced to our ball retention. Watching us play yesterday was like watching Fearne Cotton presenting TV programmes; attractive to a point but sooner or later you know something crap is going to happen to spoil it all.
Oddly, it started in a similar fashion to the Crusaders and Salford games. Relatively even first 20 minutes. Difference is that we started trying to score of every set rather than building pressure and playing the game in the right end of the field as we did in the last two routs. I'm not suggesting for a second that we'd have put 60 on Hull had we retained the ball better but if we'd have even improved that by 20% it would have made a difference.
Hull are in a false position. That said, I can't see them progressing properly whilst Agar is still there, results like yesterday only serve to increase the chance they'll retain him.

Myler did not play in the second half against Salford in which we scored 42 unanswered points.......................

When he's missing there's nobody else who can take control the way he does. We need to start thinking about his replacement.

you might be surprised!
I couldn't get up to the game yesterday..so I had to listen to the very biased BBC Humberside radio coverage...their commentators could not believe how many forward passes Thaler let go...to Hull's advantage....the bloke is incompetent in the extreme.
They (BBC Hull) were even chuckling when we throw a 50/50 pass and it gets pulled up!
Not saying it would have change the result...but if the ref and the linesmen can't get the basics right, then what's the point?

I HATE charge-downs...too risky..we never seem to get much benefit from them.

Why is it every forum seems infested by a wind up artist?
For what its worth I think your comments on this thread have been quite complementary to Hull.We usually get accused of lucky wins.
