| No collections Tuesday 12th January
rlhttps://www.warrington.gov.uk/News/2010/January/bins.aspx#rl
Refuse collections
Snow, ice and parked cars have made side roads inaccessible and dangerous to staff and large collection vehicles, so the council has set up the following arrangements:
There will be no black, blue or green wheelie bin collections this week.
Residents are invited to bring their side waste to one of the collection points which will be set up around the town. Collection points will be set up in areas on their usual bin days and are open between 8am and 3pm. Waste must be presented in tied up bags - please do not bring your bin to the collection point.
Refuse collection points on Tuesday 12 January (for residents whose normal bin collection is on Tuesdays):
Hollins Green - Rixton Village Hall, Manchester Road
Woolston - Wooolston Leisure Centre, Hall Road
Woolston - Runnymede
Longbarn - Community Centre Car Park - Pasture Lane
Padgate - Blackbrook Square
Padgate - Bruche Park, Sheerwater Close
Orford - Boyle Ave
Cinammon Brow - Car Park, Crab Lane Playing Fields
Cinammon Brow - Car Park, Houghton Green Rec Ground, Ballater Drive
Oakwood - Nelsons Quarterdeck, Admirals Road
Gorse Covert - Car Park, Birchwood Forest Park
Locking Stumps - Turf and Feather, Glover Road
Croft - The Horse Shoe, Smithy Lane
Culcheth - Charnock Road Sports Club, Charnock Road
Mee Brow - The Raven Inn, Warrington Road
Glazebury - Bents Garden Centre, Warrington Road
There will be an additional three waste collection vehicles at the three community recycling centres.
We will also be helping those disabled residents and those who have mobility issues who usually have assistance with their collections to get their bags to the collection points.
Please disregard the stickers which were placed on your bin advising of collection dates post Christmas.
Wednesdays arrangements will be published as soon as possible.

They haven't been round Birchwood, Risley and Cinnamon Brow, the roads have been treacherous coming to and from work.
As for the above bin collection points in rchicks post, only there from 8am til 3pm is a waste of time, I work til 5pm.

I don't believe them. I'd like to see which roads they reckon they have gritted. I reckon Winwick Road, Manchester Road, Birchwood Way and the Woolston Grange Roads.

You would be wrong on the last two at least. From the bottom of Birchwood Way near Orford/Padgate to the first roundabout is like driving across the Arctic. Woolston Grange is now a single carriageway thanks to the amount of snow on it, even at the bits that are duel-carriageway.

| I'm not too sure that all of Manchester Road was gritted.
I had to take my car for an MOT last Thursday and the part of Manchester Road near to the Rope and Anchor didn't seem to have been gritted.
Once I got to Kingsway traffic lights, the road was considerably better.
Our road has never been gritted but the ones I used to get to Manchester Road usually are. Not so this time, it seems.
I think the council should do a recce around the roads. Cars, which are normally left on the road, have been very thin on the ground around here, they have been put up drives to avoid bumps. I've just looked out of the window and the wagons would certainly have a clear run here.
Come March/ early April, all the departments will be rushing to spend their superfluous money to ensure that budgets are maintained. Why not spend it now to buy some snow chains?

| They have only gritted the main roads (imagine them trying to get a gritter down some of the side roads???), the majority of the main roads are now clear anyway, or full of slush so not too bad to drive. I am not bothered about the bins, I went to the Woolston tip yesterday with all my extra bin bags (4 mile drive but not bothered), all of it was clear of snow. Would prefer to do that than have a bin wagon slide into my car trying driving down my roador have a bin man break his neck for the sake of my rubbish!

| Woolston Grange Avenue has definitely not been gritted. Last week was like a scene from Ice Road Truckers. Looks like the Ice Road has broken up today.
Loadsafun at the Hilden Road/Blackbrook Ave lights all week.
Oh, and whilst I'm on, what about all the favourable treatment for the South Warrington Tories? Centre of Stockton Heath has even had the pavements cleared, yet Fearnhead shops was like an ice rink yesterday. Absolute disgrace!!!

| Drove to Widnes town centre on Saturday and the difference in the state of the Roads was very noticeable just a few minutes out of Penketh and the roads were much more clearer.....
did they get a helping hand from the chemicals in the air or is Halton Council a bit more organised....

| So its okay for us to get out but not the binmen - how convenient. Perhaps they should set up a collection point in front of the town hall. perhaps then they might decide to work like everyone else has too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
