you mean you don't invite Bridge to your Fondue Fridays'

| Quote: Andy Wire "I don't think i'm foolishly speculating at all.
Whereas I don't think he's performed when starting games as halfback I think he has really performed at centre sometimes popping up to cover halfback very well.
If asked Bridge or Atkins I would say Bridge because he has shown more than enough this year that he has the ability and that he can learn and there are games that you can see he has been developing there.
Therefore, if he was to go what would be the reason? On field or Off field? He's too valuable on field for me so I can't help but think off field.
The reason I used the Harrison incident is that Harrison appears to be highly rated by Smith and he may not want bad influences.'"
I agree wholeheartedly! I personally think Bridge is the better player.
Harrison's an adult who can get himself into trouble, shouldn't need outside influences.

| Like Dave T says many top class players have had problems with off field stuff, you can get away with a bit if you are top class (Brett Stewart, Craig Gower, Mark Gasnier etc)
Then you get the likes of Craig Field who were good but not quite top class enough to get away with it. I'd put Bridge in that category.
He does seem to have done quite well this season but if he was a player at another club and we were looking at signing him I doubt there would be widespread excitement at signing him, we would all be pointing at his injury record and disciplinary record and asking could he be the wrong kind of player to fit the Tony Smith mould.
With Atkins and King in the centres plus possibly Simon Grix (a better bet than Bridge) and Myler/Briers/Monaghan in the halves its difficult to see where Bridge would fit into the starting line up, he would be a squad player next season at best so I can see this rumour being realistic.

I must admit that Bridge excites me more than Atkins.
Saying that he doesn't have enough class to get away with 'it'. What is 'it'?
I just see a pretty good RL player who has the potential to be a very good player, and one that has already made the loss of a Test centre no big deal at all.
This is sort of my point overall, people keep banging on about his issues, yet he is still better than many centres knocking around, many of whom have no 'it' to talk about.
We have all had the rumours about Briers for years, and now many want to kiss his ar$e, so I make no apologies for supporting a Wire player and going with what the coach wants.

Your still specualting in all of the above. Re: that incident in town you dont what went on and appear to be assuming it was wrong doing which may or may not have been the case.

I am very critical of certain parts of the club, and don't mistake my loyalty and liking of Paul Cullen as an indication that I am an 'apologist for all things Warrington'.
The rumours about Bridge are exactly the same as the rumours we have heard about Briers for years and years, and now people are jizzing over him.
I am more concerned about some of the rumours I hear about the likes of Harrison and Blythe to be perfectly honest.

| Not really Dave.
Briers never ended up in court over something to do with an ambulance.
Like I said before I reeally hope we keep Bridge but pretending he doesn't have aggression/personality issues is daft.

Jesus I thought people were stupid thinking we could sign Sinfield but backing it up with Bosc is beyond belief. If only they hadn't taken the word gullible out of the dictionary they could of used this as its description.
Anyway surely people realise that having players like Bridge in our squad on very reasonable contracts allow us to sign the likes of Morley. CVarvell, Monaghan, King, Atkins, etc when everybody else questions how we remain in the cap.
If Bridge was released who do people think we could sign on an equivalent salary?

My question is how do we know any issues that he has had have hampered him becoming a top player?
There aren't many decent centres knocking around in Britain at the moment, and at times this year he has looked better than anything Gleeson did for a couple of years.
I prefer to judge players on the field and leave the off-field stuff to the management to sort out, if anybody oversteps the mark then they should be out. At the moment, it looks like he hasn't overstepped the mark, and has played pretty well, in a relatively new position for him.
My comparison with Briers is because of people who claimed that he is a crap pro in the fact that he does this and that and should be sacked off, yet he has been instrumental in most good things this year for us (and IMO most other years).
