| I was there but I wasn't near any of this so can someone clear something up for me. I turned to acctually look at the conga as I saw it on the screen which was at the back of the North stand but when I turned round all the stewards we're racing up to near one of the tunnels/enterances.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| From what It showed on Telly there was a number of Wire fans having a bit of fun, then stewards streaming up the stairs as though they were coppers in full riot gear,
Stewards at most grounds have a habit of getting involved in situations and making them far worse rather than letting them fizzle out.

| In fairness to the stewards, I presume most of them are doubly employed by the Rugby and Football teams and have to put up with the chavball fans most weeks and, therefore, their handling of situations isn't what Rugby fans are used to.

That would be correct. The whole incident was a bit of both. Stewards went in a bit quick but you still can't condone the response of some Wire fans. One big fat bloke in particular who (unless you've another big agressive fat bloke) was at the heart of the trouble last week. I saw him smack a surrending Wigan fan on the jaw at Widnes.
In terms of the Conga I bet some wires fans probably think "arrrghh bloody killjoys it's health & safety gone mad" as well but I think younger supporters should be thankful how safe grounds are these days and why the health and safety aspect is so aggressive which all came about following the tragic hillsborough disaster in 1989 and more in particular the 1985 Valley Parade fire in which 55 fans literally burned to death after a small fire believed to have been caused by a disgarded cigarette engulfed a whole stand within about 2 minutes. I saw footage of that incident and trust me it mentally scarred me for life.

No, of course not. All taking and whatnot aside, alcohol + steep, wet stairs in that North Stand = recipe for disaster. If a Wire fan was to fall and cause serious damage to themselves, no doubt there would have been an uproar that Wigan didn't comply with Health and Safety regulations. Major court cases and possible closure of the Stadium could've followed.

Hillsborough was created by a stadium crush due to a lack of space in an overfilled stadium.
To be fair if you'd gathered everyone from tonight into one stand you still wouldn't have filled it.

As for the people complaining about not being able to do the Conga 18 months ago I would have agreed with you, that is until I was sent on a H and S/Risk Assessment course and knowing what that stand is like the stewards will have had no choice but to break it up (I am not saying they didn't perhaps handle it badly) due to the potential for it going very wrong and them ending up with numerous casualties - I am sure most people if they stop and think for a second can think why it probably isn't the most sensible/safest thing to be doing. You also have to remember that due to the wonderful claim culture we have now that if something had gone wrong then some idiot would have probably sued the club for allowing them to do it.

| Didn't go to the game last night but watched it on tv. Saw wire fans doing a conga causing no trouble at all yes maybe health and safety gone mad and all that they should be told to stop if they were going up and down the steps (but how is that different to everyone going out of the ground at the end of the game?) the stewards were seen rushing up the stairs mob handed when just a quiet word would surely be surfice.
So depending on how the stewards approached the situation would determine the reaction from the wire fans. But no excuse for fighting fire with fire.
