| Quote: Rosswire "I have watched Pryce carefully over the last season and a half.
He gets rave reports from the pundits, (Stevo picks out a MOM every week before kickoff then justifies his decision by praising him throughout the game. Last night it was Kyle Eastmond but its usually Pryce) and Eddy tags along because he doesn't know enough about the game to be able to form his own opinion (Wellens, the best fullback in the world).
I think Pryce is the most over-rated player in the SL. His involvment is very patchy. His tackling is rare to say the least and in attack he hangs back behind the runners waiting for an opportunity to cash in on the work done by everyone else, usually Long.
I repeat, I think he is vastly over-rated and shouldn't be an automatic choice for the England team in October.
Playing in a lesser team than saints his true quality would be exposed.'"
I have no time for Pryce as a bloke, but this is unbelievable. He's a fantastic player as his medal cabinet testifies.

| If Leon Pryce became available tomorrow, every SL team would be interested and probably a few in Aus.
Thats how OVER RATED he is.

| A bit like James Graham, he's a class act who lacks class.

| I dont think anyone would dispute he's a great player domestically.
When it comes to the biggest stage i just think he's, well, lacking.
At that level McGuire's the better option at 6.

As is almost every other player who pulls on an England jersey. Even McGuire is like a lost little boy when it comes to playing the Aussies.

Not so.
McGuire is one England half back the aussies actually rate.
At SL level he isn't quite as explosive as Pryce but he's developed an all round better understanding of the game and against organised defences i've said which one i'd take. Your opinion's obviously different, no biggie.

No they don't, McGuire was one of the (many) major disappointments of the World Cup. He didn't get many starts granted, but a 'world class' player, which is what you are suggesting he is if you believe the Aussies rate him, will make an impact wether he plays 40 minutes or 80. Darren Lockyer, when asked about the England squad last year prior to the WC hadn't even heard of McGuire. How's that for 'rating him? And the only players out of the team who faced Australia last year who the Aussies gave any credit to after the campaign were Peacock, Ellis, Morley, Roby and Graham. And even they looked mediocre, and that is being kind.

That not quite correct.
Despite Leon Pryce being totally anonymous in the 2nd Grand Final in a row and bring out played by McGuire, Pryce went into the PNG game as the No.6, after 65 minutes of more anonyminity he was brought off and replaced by McGuire who looked far more dangerous, set up one try, and had a hand in another that was then disallowed.
McGuire played very well in the semi against NZ and was raved about by several Aussie pundits including Phil Gould who stated that McGuire is good enough to play in the NRL and needs to go there to develop further.
Also Morely and Peacock had very good world cups and if I remember correctly, Gleeson to played well in the semi against NZ.
As for the statement about Lockyer saying he had never heard of McGuire, i never read anywhere Lockyer saying he had never heard of him.

Using language like he used earlier in this thread, I tend to agree with your assessment of Mark.
