| I remember there being a lot of hype around Desai Williams at Wigan a few years ago, and loads of their fans bought Afro wigs to wear in his honour, and then he turned out to be truly atrocious.

ooh, that's a good call that. i've purposely avoided nominating nikau, i've complained about him on here far too much in the past.
Tony Tatupu was another, we hid him in a safe house so the warriors couldn't find him, and was described by murphy as the alan shearer of rugby league.
Some say we went after kearney and got this fella instead...

| For me it was Steve "blocker" Roach. He had nothing but an extended holiday for us whilst Les Davidson played his heart out in every game. I remember at the time being really let down over his apparent lack of effort and commitment. World beater in Aus mediocre at best over here.

Surely the biggest let down must be Fielden at Wigan.'"

| Kevin Penny will get a few mentions no doubt. Could prove to be the case in the end, I hope not.
No hype, Dale Cardoza was a criminal waste of an athlete, had the physique, just no bottle.

Just shame he got injured in second game and didn't recover sufficiently.

Hear hear.
I always felt a bit sorry for Terry Holmes - came to League with a massive reputation, but injuries prevented him showing how good he was. I do remember him, together with John Woods, destroying us at Wilderspool for Bradford in the mid-80's, though, knocking us out of the CC in the process.

| They didn't destroy us, they won by a couple of points and that was only cos kevin meadows knocked on with the line at his mercy in the last couple of minutes. John Woods is a legend in my eyes though.

| This Michael Jackson memorial has been a let down thus far. Paul Gambacini just introduced a Reverend as 'not Mariah Carey'.
Sullivan and Monaghan have been let downs although Monas gets something of a pass due to his great effort levels.

LOL, I heard that too just now. I didn't know there were so many syllables in 'there'.
