I think your missing the point, or maybe the other chaps point is quite right, anyway I guess what some are saying on here is why are the organisations already doing good things not given the opportunity to expand on what they do now,I may be wrong and they already have and turned it down,but this as not been mentioned,it's got nothing to do with anyone getting on high horses etc it's about having a view. What makes me laugh is this new club says there won't be any bitching,people will feel comfortable posting etc lmao.

And I must apologise for an error in my first reply-we were formed as Zingari in 1876, so our first season was 1876/7; we dropped Zingari for 1877/8. |

The thing that came up at the meeting that most interested me was the naming rights for the stadium,think it's next year it's up for renewal.

I just wanted to advise anyone on a high horse who doesn't want to be dumped on, to STAY on the horse. Unless you're riding in zero gravity, you're much less likely to get into trouble up there.

No apology required. I didn't take offence.
I don't know when Zingari were formed and I don't think we were formed from them either.
I'm pretty sure around the 76 period the team as we know it Warrington were formed from an amalgamation of 3 clubs, Zingari being one of them.
I think the home games were played on a field near Sankey Street before moving to Wilderspool. |

I wasn't apologising for risk I'd caused offense, it was because my error could cause confusion.
It's not a case of whether we were formed from Zingari, we ARE Zingari. The club dropped the appendix in 1877, and from then on was known as Warrington Football Club. Other clubs joined forces at later dates, providing personnel, officials, and no doubt other inputs (fans, money, possibly kit and influencing ground moves), but the name remained, and the club can trace its origins back to the meeting in 1876 when Zingari were formed.
I really hope there's a strong heritage section on the club site when it's launched next week. I'll be reviewing thoroughly and feeding back my comments on here and to the club if required once I've digested it. |
