| Quote latchfordbob="latchfordbob"So you saw them get 30,000 for some games in the old 3rd division, but in the same season they got a crowds of 19,000, 11,000 and then 3007 against Mansfield, all in cup games. Some of the away crowds were very poor as well.
I don't know how the Liverpool crowd can inspire the team, once you get past the stage managed YNWA at the beginning, you can hear a pin drop for most of the games.
So in conclusion, More fans = more possibilities of winning trophies, Great atmosphere = can occasionally generate a better performance (or periods of play) on the pitch.'"
Fair points. I'm inclined to agree. (Though 19,00 for a third division game is pretty good)
I personally find the YNWA nonsense rather nauseating. I suppose I was thinking of the time when LFC beat St Etienne (1977 I think - the same year you scored thirty league goals and won ten grand from the Daily Express!!!).

I was sat directly above the wire fans, in the 2nd tier, and literally the only two songs I heard were 'sh*t helens' and what I keep reading was supposed to be 'allez allez allez ohh' but was definitely 'alley alley alley oh'. You were pretty loud though, congrats.

That has more to do with the position of you and the direction of acoustics rather than loudness of voice.
Like standing behind a mega phone as opposed to standing in front.

Well, he was sitting above you and I was sitting on halfway and we both didn't hear much apart from the banal and excuciating "Allez, Allez, Allez".
Would anyone care to explain to me why you were singing that anyway. Do you have French players that I don't know about? Is Warrington twinned with Toulouse? Do any of you even know what it means?

Love the fact this has wound you up so much, I think you either need to lighten up or just stop going to the games!

As you well know, during the heroic but ultimately doomed National Strike of 1926, the starving Miners from Wigan were forced to go back to work earlier than surrounding towns - thus having to eat 'humble pie' - and not because the World Pie Eating Championships are held in Wigan. By the way I recommend the Museum of Labour History in Manchester (free to enter and a decent cafe) if you didn't.
Your turn...

Because the Wire fans have a good relationship with the Catalan fans. The last few years both sets of fans have stood together singing with and supporting each other.
If you look at the first link Rugbychick posted you'll notice a large Catalan flag in with the Wire fans after the game (you may have noticed it during the game, too)
Also, I was sat above the Bradford fans, in the upper tier, for the first two games, and I could hear everything the Wire fans were singing (including the Catalan songs) even when there was only a (comparatively) small contingent.

| Allez does not have a direct English translation but in its context means. Get going. Allez is one of the first French words a child would learn, after greetings and courtesy, for directions.

Haha. Good point.
Personally I've nothing against Leigh - and they have one of the very few decent MPs around today.
