I went for the Ardbeg Uigeadail as the more expensive one, Laphroaig Quarter Cask as the other and an Edradour 10 Year Old to try for myself.

That's the usual 70cl size.
As I've said before, Islay isn't to everyone's taste, but this one isn't as heavily peated/smokey as some (Laphroaig/Ardbeg), and at £22 a bottle, it's pinching money. Fill your boots.

| I know bugger all about Whiskey as i rarely drink as it is and spirits don't really do it for me but i do like the occasional Southern Comfort but speaking to the father in law who is pushing 70 about this as he sees himself as a bit of a wine and spirit connoisseur and he suggested a 15 years old Glenlivet, infact he has a couple of bottles in the cupboard, he's quite good with his choices but he did say to me forget the malt and get a good bottle of Veuve Clicquot (i had to google to find out it's a sparkling wine).

If your ever stuck again go on to the Loch Fyne whiskies site reasonable price. More importantly he gives tasting note on any he's tried. I' dissagreed with a couple of his taste reports ,but agreed with 99.9

| Do any of you malt drinkers put water with your malt, and if so how much should you put in it, someone once told me that's how it should be drank, what do you guys think?

The only thing you should put in a malt, is another measure.
Very very very occasionally, I may put a TINY amount of filtered water (the water round here is DISGUSTING) into something that's around 48% or over.

Thanks for the answer mate, to me i think it would just water the flavour down, think i will stick to having it neat.

| Took a whiff of some Monkey shoulder at a bar the other night and thought my face was going to catch fire.
I like the idea of being a whiskey drinker. What's a good whiskey for a "man" who likes Southern Comfort coke.
Do you just have to perservere with it?

Monkey Shoulder aint that bad, Ulster.
My dad bought me a bottle of it, last Christmas, and I was underwhelmed when I found out what he's bought me. However, when I opened it on the Boxing Day, I was very surpried....good stuff. Pity the greedy bugger helped me put a big dent in the amount left in the bottle
