| How can Leigh fans get uppity about tackling techniques with who they have in their side? Beggars belief....but hey, let them have their day in the sun before they get relegated again in a couple of years when their team of cast offs all retire.
I am rapidly falling out of love with Super League, it has so few redeeming qualities, especially now the football play acting has crept in. An amateur sport administered and adjudicated by clueless buffoons

| Leigh were allowed to play a 7 yard line ALL night. The refereeing performance was one of the worst I can remember. But I'm not surprised. Wigan must finish in the top 2.

Least penalised team in the league suggests different.
Leigh are the 4th most penalised team in the league by the way. Also have the most yellow cards.

| At the risk of making this thread about rugby, we’ll take a bit from that. Things won’t always go our way, and we’ll have to work out a way to cope. We gave up the first 6 points, and turned over so much ball that a good team would have put 40 on us, and Leigh should have done and they will be equally disappointed with their execution.
The bigger and most immediate issue is that the Charnley and Halton tries come from us getting our goal line defence wrong. The Halton one, Wray tries to move Fitzgibbon out from marker/A defender and he just doesn’t move, and Wray ends up late into position, 1 on 1 on the line. I’m not saying Fitzgibbon stops the try, but there’s a communication breakdown. The Charnley one, Walker is a late retreat on the line and doesn’t get to the short side quick enough for the right edge to be able to adjust. Could be fatigue for Walker, but I’d be expecting Wray to plug that gap and get the numbers right and/or getting Walker to position with a bit more urgency.
No criticism of Wray, numbers are short by default when down to 12, but something to work on over the next few weeks.
PS. Don’t feed the duck, he doesn’t know better.

I’d drop him though for Lindop.

So you think the red was warranted?

| I haven’t seen a replay but when Ashton was tackled into touch late on was Matt Davis late into the tackle? My initial reaction was he was but would like to see again.

| A red card which was never a red card, the continued over examination by the video ref, it was like they were hopeful of finding a reason to send off Vaughan. The sky commentary was the exact same, Jon Wells was delighted when the Vr made the decision..it was the most laughable card I’ve seen..
Leigh looked clueless in attack against 12 men, their line speed in defence was debatable, all night. It was a given Charnley was getting a try against Wire..
Overall it’s not that bad of night for Wire. Showed brilliant mental toughness in restricted Leigh to only 16 and scoring two conversions, the first kick by Thewils was delightful from the touch line..
As for duckies agenda against Vaughan, last night was no fault of Vaughan’s, so unsure why the Duck is fuming..
Toby King amateurish performance by him.

| I would’ve preferred Nicholson on the pitch to Bateman last night, was waiting for a yellow for dissent all game.
Unbelievable that but for a bit of composure we could have won that game.
Got a Band of Brothers” vibe which should stand us in good stead for the play offs.

BTW - Vaughan agrees with the new rules as he states below here.

Thanks to Cokey's Vaughan link, I also listened to Burgess's post match comments and I have to agree with the boss. I actually think that this game and Burgess's reaction will serve to galvanize us as a team going forward.
Composure is the correct terminology Captain and I must say that I'm a tad disappointed in some reactions on here bagging players for their mistakes last night. High intensity game played with 12 men against opponents that have generally given us trouble in all kinds of ways with their ex Wire contingent finding the performance percentages that might have seen some of them still here (I wouldn't have any of them back BTW) and a win for them at all costs absolutely essential.
Yes, King had a poor game, but I think that he will be the first to admit that and I think his attitude now under the current regime will be hands up and how can I make amends rather than I can't be bothered.
I think that we are a different animal this year, one that we've not seen for a dozen years or so and I'm sure whatever happens we won't crumble and fizzle out in the play offs

| Vaughan is a great player and out to know better and that is my agenda with him.
He is poor discipline choice is prolific, whilst nobody is bigger than my club.
The sun can shine from his backside when I see him play in the big games and put top teams on theirs.
He gets stellar credit for showing great stats agains poor teams and plenty quality family time off work when his input is wanted the most.
