Credit where credits due... Saints got out of jail, Hull should have shut the game down. With all the players missing Saints have and still to perform like that after going 18-0 down, great point earned for them.

The equivalent of Saints injuries for us would look something like this;
Riley
Joel Atkins King Evans
Bridge Monas
Moz Higham Carvell
Westwood Blythe
Harrison

Subs;
Solomona Cooper Mitchell McCarthy

Injuries;
Hodgson (Wellens)
Briers (Pryce)
Myler (Lomax)
Anderson (Flannery)
Wood (Clough)
Clarke (Moore)
Grix (Gaskell)
O'Brien (Wheeler)
Williams (Makinson)

Does kind of put things into perspective of how well Saints are doing to be right up there. But in saying that, I believe with the 17 above we'd be able to hold our own against more than half the teams in the league too. Makes you realise how far we've come in such a short space of time - 5 first teamers, 1 sub and 3 squad players all injured and I still think we can field a 17 capable of beating anybody in the league.

All in all, credit to Saints. But hopefully we stay top from here on in! ISWT!

Yes please. Bentham always seems to go out of his way, and too far the other way, to prove that he isn't bias.

Quote: Saddened! "Hope you are not belittling our achievement so far this season there? We've had 5 fullbacks this season and I think we're on our 6th halfback combination.

Saints have had several players missing from just about every game this season. I reckon we had 7 of the best 17 missing today. Take Briers and 6 more of your best 17 out and would you be happy with joint top?'"

Not belittling but trying to cut through the rubbish.

At the start of the season your first choice 13 would have been something like:

Wellens, Gardner, Shenton, Meil, Foster, Pryce, Eastmond, Perry, Roby, Graham, Puletua, Soliola, Wilkin.

Out of that only Wellens and Pryce did not play yesterday.

Bench at start of the year would have been LMS, Moore, Clough, Wheeler

So by my reckoning that would be 5 out of the 17 missing. Which of the other 12 fall within your "7 of the best" missing yesterday?

Quote: Paul Youane "Not belittling but trying to cut through the rubbish.

At the start of the season your first choice 13 would have been something like
You have forgotten Flannery, Perry and Moore, all of whom would have been in the starting 17. Perry did play, briefly, but he was a question mark due to being out with a groin strain for three weeks previously. Eastmond was also a question mark due to being ill for two weeks with a chest infection. However, neither Moore nor Flannery played. Meli and TP are now doubts for this weekend, both of them playing with injuries yesterday as we have no players left.

What you miss is that Pryce is a long term injury absence. He hasn't played even half a match since June last year (discounting the friendly in which he sustained his groin injury). Because he is a long term absence, we played another stand off in his place. That stand off became our first choice stand off. Lee Gaskell. He got injured with a broken ankle. Meanwhile, Pryce continued to be injured. We then played Gary Wheeler, who was taken out by Hoffman and so could not play. Meanwhile, Pryce remained injured. Eastmond, in the meantime, was suspended due to behaving badly and general attitude issues and so Lomax became our first choice scrum half. Lomax was played even when Eastmond was back from suspension and in the u20s. Then Lomax got injured. Eastmond was then recalled but uncertain due to his chest infection. In addition, while Wello is our first choice fullback, he picked up an ankle injury which meant he went off during the first half against Wigan, due out for 3 to 4 weeks. So then Makinson became our first choice fullback. Makinson then got a deadleg in the match against Castleford so Armstrong was called in. He usually plays centre on dual contract with Leigh. He was thrown in at fullback for most of the game against Cas. Then Armstrong broke his nose during our game yesterday and our club's last fit back who is ready for first grade was thrown in at the deep end for his debut at fullback (Ashe is a fullback in the u20s).

It needs to be noted that next season Royce Simmons wants at least four halfbacks available to play. If we had all our halfbacks fit, then it is likely this season we would see four of them play, by choice rather than due to injury.

You wanted to 'sort through the rubbish': well, there it is sorted through for you. We have no stand offs left at all, so Wilkin has had to play there. We are hoping Nathan Ashe remains fit, even though he is only just back from injury himself, because we have no backs left who are fit to play now.

Not nitpicking but I'd class Gaskell as a squad player not first 17. I see your point though due to the severity of Pryce's injury.

Would you agree that my comparison previously is fair then? Your team is still fairly strong due to a more or less a first choice forward pack having only lost Flannery (first team), Clough and Moore (subs) but yes, your backs are heavily patched up.

So Mooore is first choice instead of Roby?

Who does Flannery replace in the first 13?

Perry played so I can't see what point you are making?

Eastmond injured - of course he was.

Players playing with injuries - no $hit sherlock.

I think you will find most teams start with 13 players not the 17 you refer to.

Eastmond's injury is complete lack of interest, nothing more, nothing less.

was a great game! first half, i thought was a bit boring, with it being one sided, but second half picked up, and i thought saints played really well considering their injuries. Expected more of Hull in the second half, but was a great game to watch!

Bookies had Hull +2 11/10. So obviously they felt Saints were going to win so Hull did well to get a draw.

One of their "eloquent" supporters posted this on the Hull site.

Quote: Paul Youane "the injured list was as follows!
wellens
flannery
price
scott moore
clough
wheeler
dixon
lomax
gaskell

these ARE in the Saints 1st team 17 starters . And yes some are the kids but they are our 1st team line up,'"

So I asked him, which of the nine players that played yesterday would they replace.

That really isn't relevant. The point is that Saints have coped with the disruption and lack of rotation having so many out every week creates. Someone posted Warrington's equivilent 17 if you had the same injuries we have now. I think it's far stronger than Saints. However we've had that many out most weeks this season and are still only behind on points difference.
