| Even the Cumberland throw is now outlawed so should have been a yellow. A few players have actually been banned for these type tackles this season. Richie Myler might be one if my memory serves me correctly.

Current RLF rules.
Foul “throws” 1. (a) A tackler must not make use of any special “holds” or “throws” which are likely to cause injury or use his knees in the tackle. It is permissible for a tackler to bring a player in possession of the ball to the ground by pulling him over the outstretched leg provided he is holding the player with both arms before there is any contact with
the leg.
I didn't see the incident in any case.

| In the dim & distant tripping was a straight red , it was deemed such bad practice.

I always understood a Cumberland Throw to be a way of bringing down a [istanding[/i player though, not to trip up a [irunning[/i player. Tripping is clearly dangerous.

It was Tommy Martyn (Snr) go to tackle, usually one handed and very finely judged to avoid being a trip. I think that is why they introduced the requirement to have hold with TWO hands.

| Presumably if an offence warrants a 1 match ban it deserved a red card in the match? 2 players down...

In Grand Finals refs tend to try to keep players on the field and leave the disciplinary committee to sort out offences later. In the 2013 final, Ben Westwood punched Blake Green in the face, the ref sensibly just had a quiet word and told Green to stop scriking and man up, which to his credit he did with a man of the match performance, and Westwood was given a one match ban after. The way some of the do gooders go on Westwood should have been sent off.

| If Charnley had been binned we could have reason to be agreaved. But he wasn't, I'm. Also under no. Illusion they're even similar but if a refs to make an on the spot decision he could have binned Charnley.
Refs will always be hesitant to send someone off or to the bin in a final. Probably make no difference we can say they may have tired, I think it would have spurred them on further they've a shown a desire to win at any cost and when it comes to digging deep they seem to dig deeper.

Spot on Westwood should of gone but so should those 2...whats the point of banning them all they'll miss is a pointless international game or pre season run about...you can't have 2 sets of rules just because it's a final

Pieman, pieman, pieman... Don't you realise that only other teams are guilty of foul play and that the very same disciplinary whose consistency they've complained about all year is now the yardstick by which even handedness is measured? Get with the program man!
What do you mean look who's heads were split open, stitched and bandaged? That's irrelevant. The disciplinary said it was from fair challenges and that should be an end to it! Elbows? Knees? It simply couldn't have been...
