| Quote: Uncle Rico "It might be different when viewed on TV but I did think that for a decent spell Hicks lost complete control of the game and he evened things up a bit from a position of only refereeing us at the start.
One thing that was evident last night and it's creeping in unfortunately was the 'football' antics of some of the Wigan players. For example diving to the ground at the play the ball, the one near our line in the first half was laughable yet gained another 6 and Escare, I think, waving an imaginary card to get one of ours a rest...the game is better without it.
I went into their South Stand bar apres match and the compere couldn't wait to slag us and the ref off to much one-eyed applause. Fair play to Davis and Tautai in the Q&A they didn't get dragged in, less so one of their coaches John someone or other.
Different folk see different things I suppose, we cant get any kind of consensus on here so not much chance there'"
Is it being coached now do you think, Brian Carney called out the Richie Myler one at the end of the Leeds/Salford match.

Whether it's being coached, or being adopted like a a bunch of kids in a school playground following their idols it's embarrassing and not needed. I'd give the imaginary card waver a rest or the opposition a penalty, coaches would soon put a stop to it.

| Will the ref have the bottle to card Tompkins for whining in the semi or final?

Probably not, but, fair warning should be given for miscreants next year straight from the 'off'

He'll get a shock when he finds out how little he can get away with in a Catalans' jersey.

| How refreshing this morning in the NRL to not see;
Holding down / interference
Locking players in
Attackers moving off the mark
Attackers diving at the play of the ball to get a penalty. When it did happen the attacker got penalised.
Also good to see players actually needing to play the ball with their foot, and getting penalised if they don't.

| It seems an age since I have seen a ref give a 10 yard advance when encountered with mithering players.

Sounds like a strange game, you'll be telling us that during a scrum the ball goes in between the two front rows next!

There is also moving off the mark when playing the ball. Wigan did it a few times (that young forward of theirs walked about six paces forward on one occasion) last night, though they are not the only offenders. What adds insult to injury is that this is a penalty offense, yet the marker often gets pinged for not allowing the ball to be played, when he's pedalling backwards to get out of the way.

A lot of that I agree with, problem is you need to see it in your own team too, and for that matter every other team. The ‘football antics’ are becoming more and more common throughout the game in this country and Warrington are just as bad as any other team.

Absolute quality from Clark
Good effort from a few others
Well played young Johnson.
I've seen more from today's HBs, than the regular two's "efforts", all season.
No need to fear anyone.
Onwards Wire'"
I agree with you Lefty in that Warrington are definitely not out of it and it wouldn't surprise me whichever of the top 4 wins the GF as I think that unless Saints find their early season form then anyone can win it and no team should fear any of the opposition left in the competition.
I think that if you face Saints in the playoffs then you can go into the game without the pressure of expectation which could play right into the hands of your players.
I thought Johnson looked very good for a debut game.
The score line did flattered us but I am always happy to take that scenario.

Fair points made Itchy.
The way 2017 went, coupled with the opening six matches, the only pressure of expectation was avoiding the middle eights again.
Made up to make the top 4 and just waiting to see what pans out in October, and you're quite correct as I'm hopeful as opposed to expecting to lift the trophy.
From a neutral, good to see Dom Manfredi playing again. We've had the frustration of having Currie sidelined for great chunks of past two seasons, so one has to admire his patience and resilience.

Grade C 3 match penalty notice suggests it was not a “typical overreaction”

| The disciplinary accept an attempt at a tackle was made but TL was reckless about outcome.

| Whilst in realtime I thought it was a shocker & definitely deserved a card of some description, 3 matches seems a bit harsh.
1 would've been enough in my view.
