That's a pretty indepth analysis of the situation there Dean. I take it from this you've spent a fair bit of time around the brothers, at showbiz bashes and stuff.

| The problem with Oasis was they peaked too soon by semi-releasing their best stuff on B sides of tracks from Definately Maybe & WTSMG ie, Listen Up, Talk Tonight, Masterplan, Acquiesce, Stay Young etc. This ironically resulted in probably their strongest album, The Masterplan.
After this they released albums with 2 or 3 stand-out tracks, not including The Masterplan of course, but even the stand out tracks at times were just classic songs re-vamped, ie, 'Dont Go Away' off the 'Be Here Now' album included a blatant rip off of the guitar rift from 'Dont Look Back In Anger.' Such albums were always touted in the press as 'a return to form' or 'Oasis back to their best,' but in reality they simply weren't, and they couldn't live up to the high standards they had aleady set themselves.
As for watching Oasis live, if any of you were ever lucky enough to have see them in a small venue like the Appollo then you would have be able to appreciate how good they were live, especially in the mid 90's. However, as victims of their own success they ended up playing large venues where the sound quality at times was questionable ie, Heaton Park this summer, and the gigs effectively turned into the biggest outdoor kareoke events you could possibly ever attend in your life. I can't think of anything more annoying as a fan of indie music & the band, to attend a gig and have a band drowned out by the fans singing along.
I'll miss them for sure but I can't help but think they came to the end of their product life cycle a long time before they split up.
Heres to the very predictable and lucrative reunion tour 10 years from now..... with our very own Simon Moran lining his pockets in the process.

But not an ounce of originality to seperate them from any other second rate, tin-pot British guitar band doing the club circuit....
The problem with a lot of these bands is that they are so musically limited...2 albums in and they become boring because they don't have the talent to do or try anything slightly different.

Who on earth said Status Quo didn't sound the same? Everything they've ever done sounds the same. As Thecko once commented: "they've made a very good living from 3 chords"

| Seen them a couple of times live and they are very, very good. The only problem they have is their music seems to attract a crowd of morons and it seems to cause problems, possibly the City/United stuff I don't know, but I think that to a degree has ruined peoples opinions on them, Noel is one of the best ever British song writers, along with Morrissey, Lennon etc. Where as Liam is the a[size.[/sizersehole, the presence on the stage, a great front man. The argument whether or not they are better than The Roses is a difficult one, The Stone Roses only released two albums, one being brilliant, one being very good. Oasis have released alot of albums containing brilliant songs, but only one or two truely great albums, although I love Oasis' music, I think it was time for a split. Time to let Noel establish himself as a great solo man. They were past it anyway.
