Not according to the salary cap regulations.

Certainly not what is being suggested above.
Patently not a player Powell fancies and with Mikaele being available for this season alongside the imminent return of Minikin together with Wrench and Thewlis as better current performers on the wing than Charnley the board seem willing to stump up their cash to make it happen.
Probably as simple as that. I think Charnley has always been a model pro in his approach to everything at Warrington. Just seems that a new coach has their own views and Charnley is not part of the future. Expect him at Leigh next year.

| And this is where Powell gives me hope. Charnley has not done much wrong, bar that short poor spell last season. He’s a good solid pro who defends well, clears his lines, good in the air and can finish ok from 10 yards out. We’ve all been happy enough with that kind of ok(ish) performance out wide but Powell wants his wingers to be a threat from anywhere on the field (as do I). Wish Charnley all the best but we’ve long been content with mediocre to good and we need to chase excellence.

I think 14-1 is value, doubt you’ll see Warrington at a higher price between now and the end of the season.
With Widdop at fullback and Ratchford in the halves with Williams we look considerably better balanced than Widdop and Williams running around like two headless chickens playing panic rugby.
Plus the addition of Mikaele at 6’4” and Harrison 6’5” gives us size we have been sadly lacking to date this year. Plus Amor coming in from Saints’ winning culture should lift accountability.
Also excited about the pure speed Ashton and Wrench offer on the flanks.
Hopefully the certainty about players’ future going forward they now have can focus minds with some players looking to leave on a high and if not they at least know where they stand. Fingers crossed this brings together the fractured squad with the coaching staff.
Just need Currie and King to recover confidence and form and just maybe we can have a tilt at Old Trafford from fifth or sixth.
Appreciate this positivity doesn’t fit with the consensus on this forum hence I rarely read it now and post even less.

| Quote: Boss Hog "There was a rumour about a Wire player not bringing his passport for the Catalans away game recently.
The said player was sent home to get his passport while the rest of the players and staff awaited his return.
Not sure whether the player did return with his passport, but owing to time constraints, Powell eventually decided to leave without him.
Both Charnley and King missed this game, and Ben Currie ended up playing centre.
Since King has resumed playing for the 1st team, since that game, and Charnley hasn`t, then I am guessing that there was a bust up with Charnley?'"
I’m not so sure he was sent back home to get it…
He would have been given a little time to find it, but the delays are not often caused at the leaving airport but by the air traffic control and or ground staff at the destination airport.
The take off slot is scheduled to tandem with the ground staff. If they miss the take off slot, it would impact on the mobile steps vehicle, the luggage handing team, more so with short staffing levels following C-19.
These are what delays planes more than anything, especially at a peak time.
I doubt very much WW we’re waiting for the certain player to go home. You miss a slot by so much as 5 mins at a peak period, and you could be faced with delays of hours.

Before they left for the airport on the Friday morning the Wakey team were asked if they all had they're passports, Ryan Adkins couldn't find his but thought that either Paul White or Scott Grix had got it as they'd been messing about so he just went expecting one of them to have it, unfortunately not it had been left at home, Adkins was sent home by Kear for his passport and booked a flight for Saturday morning first thing from Blackpool to Perpignan if that helps.

Thanks for your information.
Wire are one of the teams that fly to France, play the match and return to the UK, all in the same day.

I think most teams do nowadays, but this was back in 2007 when for the first two seasons all the teams stopped at that golfing complex paid for by the RFL, just mentioned it with Ryan playing for your club.

Good post. I think a good number on here are quite positive about Powell and very happy that he is addressing the long standing culture problems. We were always going to get worse before we got better. Change by its nature is disruptive and we desperately needed change after stagnating for 5 or 6 years. A tilt at the title may seem far fetched at the moment but our chances are not nil. Powell enjoys a lot of support on this forum. I had wondered why you have not posted in months but pleased to see you back.

Charnley wasn’t in the squad so I don’t think he flew out. It was someone else. As you said, ‘Currie played centre’.

| I don't get the negativity from some. We're still 4th favourites to win it with the bookies and very likely to make the playoffs, which we're only 2 points away from. Add to that our fixtures from now until the end of the season don't look too daunting.
Do I think we'll win it? Most likely not but a Saints slip-up and you never know.
Even if we don't make the GF but end the year well, we will go into next season with a lot of confidence.

| Charnley is training and was happy signing autographs at the captains run.
So perhaps there been some reconciliation. I’m glad, I don’t like the negativity between players and staff.

| All I said was that he was in the squad. I didn't say he was on the flight.
