I think it was Glen Tomlinson. A brawl started the other side of the pitch to where Henare was, he couldn't be bothered running over to join it so started smashing Tomlinson instead.
It's a shame he didn't run over and dish it out to Graeme Bradley, I'm sure the fans of both teams would have been up for watching those two.

Y'know don't get me wrong, i quite like the success and all that but in those days and a little later when all Warrington had was fight and aggression, it was so good to watch. I never left the ground with a 'meh' sort of feeling. I'd love it if the Ashton Sims came over, or get Justin Carney in. We need a nutter, every team should have a nutter.

| Hock might be due a move next season when he's unsettled at Salford.

| Quote: morrisseyisawire "Does anyone remember that Saints game at Wilderspool where Darren Albert and Henare basically had a try-fest, and both seemed to be trying to outdo each other for long-range. spectacular wing-play?
We lost (twas Saints, pre TS after all) but god, it was a wonderful match, a thrilling night and there was some brilliant tries. I think Jon Roper also had a blinder, but I might be wrong in that.'"
Nah you've imagined that, Albert joined saints about 5 years after henare left us.

| 1. Rowland Philips (Rowley)- made the saints forwards look like feathers in
one of his first games for us at Wilderspool and incredibly powerful.
2. Allan Bateman/Jonathan Davies- pure speed and
acceleration from the centres. Would leave modern day
centres for dust with a shimee.
3. Les Boyd- Devastating and the ideal front row
with Chris Hill at the mo. Rough and tough but had
a brilliant rugby mind to pass and do runarounds
when needed.

| If Rowland Philips is your top overseas signing for being Welsh what about Lee Briers or Iestyn Harris?

| Brett Hodgson
Matt King
Chris Hicks
Picking 3 is hard... but those three were my favourites.

| Quote: Wire Yed "Langer
M.Monaghan
Hodgson
are the best 3, seriously I've been comparing them for the whole day'"
How I came to this decision.
Firstly as good as some of the backs we've had have been if you have good direction from the back (fullback) you can work with squad players as your outside backs.
Hicks, King and Joel as good as they are I could live without (this is in no way any form of denigration).
People argue that Henry F was average on the wings and that it was all down to Gleeson...if that's the case then a good winger is a luxury surely?
Langer in the side if late would take us to a new level, he pulled our team through the sh*t at times and with the rank average players around him took some doing.
Langer is my first pick.
Hodgson showed us this season what he does best, he showed us that sometimes the little unseen things, the subtlety, the joining in the attack just at the right moment is an art.
Hodgsons game was so subtle I don't think some appreciated just how good he was, some people genuinely think that because Russell is a tank on kick returns he's already better than Hodgson when in truth he's not even close. Hodgson was as, if not more influential driving that team around than Briers.
Hodgson is my second pick.
Hooker in the modern game is the absolute key position of all, a good hooker will drive the team forward, he'll buy you those important yards.
Monaghan has/had everything, the brains and the brawn. How he didn't win MoS I'll never know?
Also the effort he puts into defending and his bravery on the pitch.
Those 3 are my top picks and if we had those 3 in the team now at the peak of their game we'd rip SL to shreads.

| Funny thing about Hicks was the vitriol raised on the Wires official forum when we'd signed a 30 yr old Aussie winger, who looked a bit overweight in his kit photo, and was obviously just here for a pre-retirement payday......
Yet a just few months into the season he was, rightly, regarded much higher than Monas and King, and continued to maintain a high standard.

| Of course, it depends on the definitions here. Some people have chosen their favourite, some the "best" based on who they were, some those who had most success etc. If I were choosing, I'd go for those who had most impact during their time here given the context of the team they were playing in and our overall success. Therefore, my top 3 would be...
1. Michael Monaghan (which I'd have been astounded at after his first few months; well right up until the 2009 semi final in fact).
2. Joel Monaghan (he just scores tries for fun; there were comments at the start of the year that he wouldn't do it now that Briers had gone - well he has).
3. Danny Nutley (when we were pretty rubbish and had some players whose attitude stank to high heaven, Nutley turned up every week and ran the ball in hard on every set of six when we attacked and did a major stint of marker tackles in defence - went back and became an NRL star and even played Origin, I think).

| Danny Nutley was a great signing who was also close to Man of Steel in a relegated Castleford team and was one of the top props in the NRL.
That was a superb find from Van de Velde as he was a relative unknown at South Queensland Crushers when we got him but in a poor Warrington team he was superb.
I would put him right up with Carvell and Morley.
