Its my opinion Lefty lad.
I watched him extensively in his last season at Manly where he played at Hooker for the majority of the games.
He was awsome at Hooker for Manly and was one of the main reasons why they made the GF against Melbourne.
He has been a shadow of his former self whilst playing in the halves for Wire.
At the very least we should give it a go and see what happens.

Unfortunately it does and everyone remembers what happened when Sullivan went back to Hooker, he was immense.
Its a shame the club didn't learn lessons from the Sullivan affair.

I wasn't having a go, simply pointing out that it's difficult to kick from stand off, even from full back I guess. Your six & seven should kick, with your fullback & hookers as options if they have that capability, I can't see Riley kicking, and we should never, ever see Hicks there again if we can help it.

He wasn't immense, he was okay. At halfback he was shocking. At halfback, his performances would have made Monaghan look like Joey.
Monaghan, and this situation is nothing like the Sullivan one, I wouldn't discount the theory that he may perform better at hooker, but to claim that it's the same as Sullivan is daft. Sullivans career read that he was an impact hooker who's only pedigree at halfback was a stint in junior rugby. Monaghan has four years in the NRL at halfback, with a successful 12 mth stint at hooker, if you hadn't seen him play, and you were shown his history and asked "What is he ?", you'd say halfback, as that's what he is, but who's had a bigger impact in a short period of time at hooker.

Maybe immense was a bit strong but it probably seemed immense compared to what he did at half back.

If he was that good why did Canberra let him go?

Monaghan obviously came on to the radar following his performances for Manly (at hooker).
Therefore it is similar to the Sullivan situation but maybe not quite as bad.
Whatever the case maybe, Monaghan is undoubtedly on a large contract but has been severely disappointing.
IMO he isn't happy with life at the wolves which is probably affecting his form. I just hope he is big enough to admit it and gets himself back to the NRL. Same goes for King.

| Did Monaghan ever play in the halves at Manly?
He was there for three years, did he play 3 years at hooker, or just the last year?

In the final year he played there at least once when Orford was out.
In the game I saw he wasn't anyway near as effective as he was at hooker.
I wish Jimmy would do it cos I really think he would be a revelation.
But maybe Monaghan would refuse if he only came here to play in the halves.
