| Here’s my pennies worth….on Clark, Sorry thread.
I’d love to see DC here next season as much as anyone.
He was head and shoulders the solidifying of the middle unit v KR when he came on. Clark was hugely better than Walker, who also had a fair game.
Clark is 31 next season, and has two good seasons in him before he gathers speed down the cliff.
I often say ‘better to loose a player a season too early than a season too late’….However in this scenario, Wire bosses obviously got his extension contract period wrong, going a season to short.
Consequently, as his contract is now almost up, as a thank you and blessing to DC, it’s better too lose him 2 seasons too early, than offer him a matching 3 year deal as Saints have been rumoured to have done, and find we’ve had him on contract a season too long.

Well i quite agree. I still think Clark is the best hooker we have. I'm a little surprised that the majority of folk on here are reasonably happy to see him move on and are pleased that Walker will be full time replacement. I like Walker, but for me he isn't the best hooker at the club as many are saying lately. I think we're pinning our hopes on Walker too much tbh. I still think Clark has another 1-2 seasons left in him and works well rotating with Walker.

Problem with that,if rumours are to be believed, is Clark wanted 3 years. To be fair for most of his time we have flogged him to death.
Question for Saints is who is going to come on to relieve him? At present looks like Lussick and they don’t seem to rate him (the coaches I mean).

| Not too fussed if Dwyer is to leave us after this season. In his first game he was excellent, but then in the Leeds away game they really targeted him in defence and he was pretty poor. When you watch his game closely he goes the wrong way a lot of the time, his passing can be wayward, he scoots when he shouldn't and generally messes things up

| It's fair to say that on a straight Dwyer--for-Clark basis I'm not that enthused about this.
I can see the argument for freeing up some cap space though; I'll need to see a few quality centres and second rowers signed up before I express my delight.

He's crap. We have a good young hooker in the reserves Aiden Doolan he should be given a chance.

| I was quite excited when signed Dywer, I know he has his faults, but was really looking forward to him injecting some pace off the bench, but for every good run (every other game) he gives out a few poor passes and makes the wrong choices. Targeting I defence too. He will be behind a much better pack, but even when we our forwards have dominated he still have done enough to justify his faults. Not sure he will be cheap either. Can't fault his effort though.

All good points but slightly undermined by the fact that TS reportedly wanted to keep him.

| Always a bit nervous when players move to Saints or Wigan. Clark is still a fantastic player.
I am sure everybody would love for Clark to stay but this is what happens in a salary capped sport.
From what I heard when Dwyer left it is almost the same situation. Player wants X. Club offer Y and if the player can get X at another club they move on.
Even though I think Powell would love for Clark to stay I do think powell wants a bit more out of his hookers. Walker and Dwyer both have a kicking game. So maybe maybe everybody wins
Clark gets a better Deal than we can offer him
Dwyer doesn't have to spend nearly 4 hours a day on the M62
We get a decent interchange hooker and a few bob to spend elsewhere.
It will be pretty strange watching Clark run out at the HJ wearing a Saints shirt. They are big shoes to fill a bit like whoever's took the No 1 shirt after Schmichael at Man Utd. If they dont continue their dominance I just hope their fans dont get on Clark's case because I am pretty sure he will be giving everything.

| Paul McShane wasn't any great shakes when Powell snapped him up. Seem to remember that one worked out okay in the end. And while some may think that Dwyer and McShane are not on the same level, let's not forget that McShane was a nobody before Powell, and has been a nobody since Powell. Maybe it's more about the coach, so let's give Dwyer a chance. However, I do agree about putting Doolan through when he's ready.

Mcshane was great before he got to cas, he was a real cock up on leeds part letting him go, which was down to a fallout with another player i believe, he shone at widnes, and he was WAAAAY too good for wakey.
i would have took him at any point prior to him signing for cas.

| I’m pretty happy whoever we get as a 9 and/or bench 9.
DP has a proven record of getting the best out of them. He has developed two of the last three men of steel at 9.
I’d like Clark to stay if cornered, but as long as we have a dominant pack of props, he could play his grannie at 9 for me.
