He's madly in love with Steffan Ratchford, so he'll say him.

Creatively better.
Widdop Ratchford Patton Currie (Livett)
Austin is a fantastic runner and side stepper, the best I've seen at Wire since Jiffy, as a plus he has good strength and some pace...his defence is OK for a half and can take some shots...
But as creative goes in handling is less than average and his attack kicking is often poor for a game then average in another.
Personally I'd have the bollox to shift Austin out to right centre and play Widdop with Ratchford.
It looks more balanced to me.

| Creatively better. Patton
You just can't help yourself can you RD? There are people in Walton Lea who are more creative than Patton.

The only thing less balanced than your team selection, is you.

| It’s not unreasonable to think that Matty Ashtons first two games never happened and he was destined to a season in the reserves or on dual reg with maybe a bench spot later in the season or a game when injuries and suspensions had depleted the squad.
The fact is that we are more excited about Ashton than we are Widdop and it doesn’t take a financial expert to work out their relative value.

Irrespective of the potential merits of switching him to LF, with Widdop still to be proven, Austin still not back to his early 2019 best and Currie still to regain his form, that "lank string of p!$$" remains our most talented, in form and naturally skilful player. Modicum of respect?'"
I love Ratchford...consistently our best player over the last few years...but to suggest he should be moved into the pack is madness IMO.

I quote myself and I stand by it...Austin IS NOT a creative half back.

Actually agree with you RD, he's a brilliant runner so should be supporting wherever he can down the middle. He's a brilliant player but shouldn't be taking charge of our kicking game or last tackle plays.

| Get our best player Ratchford back where he can get his has on the ball....
I hope the "Ratchford for the centre" preachers hand their heads in shame.

why?
first time he has played centre and we have scored more points than in any other game this season.
Ashton got a try and FB and we looked dangerous.....the problem is the coach and the weak pack, not ratchford at centre.
*edit... ratchford also clocked his highest personal point tally of the season so far.
