Imagine if we still had Hiku with Charnley outside him? Joshua would be looking at 40+ tries in the season. As it is if Toby King (and i wasnt a fan) is our third choice centre and we have two good wingers and Mitch Brown as back up for those....that is a hell of an improvement on the threequarters of last season. I rather like Mr Price.

Funny how we all have different perspectives of the game in general.

I see Toby King becoming one of the best centres in the competition if he can stay injury free.

He has all the attributes and is still a young kid.

His positives as a centre are much clearer to me than Rhys Evans's were.

Me too, I think he's a classy player, I like the way he attacks with intent and will keep a play alive without panicking, he does need to develop his game but only game time can sort that now really. I think Charnley is a perfect partner for him at this stage of his career, its testament to both of them how that edge looks dangerous already.

Quote: the flying biscuit "I thought Toby King was quite poor yesterday but somehow finished off with two tries.

worryingly I'm inclined to agree with RD that it was all about what he didn't do rather than what he did do.

considering there are plenty on here that have a pop at Atkins for his lack of passing ability we shouldn't allow King some grace because he's a younger player.

his passing for a Centre is woeful. and that's it.
he also attempted a chip over the top on the first tackle ....I mean come on what kind of brain fart is that. luckily it ended well but it was never on.

in the second half he simply passed to Charnley at the earliest opportunity and didnt really draw any defenders to him so still quite poor but he was saved by Charnley's brilliance.

Ive seen soundbites from Steve price question his non passing in the first half Ive seen it also questioned on the superleague show.

I would say its a problem and fans are quite within their right to question Toby King we shouldnt be made to feel "negative" or "not proper Fans"

that said he's a big unit with some pace and that's the same attributes as Atkins.... at the minute hes a younger slighty less powerful version of Atkins..... should he keep Atkins out of the team ...No'"

I think we have it there, in a nutshell.
Yes, he got a couple of tries on Friday. Well played to the lad. There's not wrong with being "Johnny on the spot". Ian Sibbitt got a contract at Melbourne Storm through it.

As I said on another thread, Atkins is now ready, and our 3/4 line will be Lineham/Goodwin/Atkins/Charnley. I know it, you know it. For his flaws, Atkins is still head and shoulders above King, and now King should take his place on the bench. As I said before (again, on another thread), our right edge defence worries me like mad. We had the piddle taken out of it, v Wakey all game, and the Wids two first half tries were there , too. T King is complicit in this.

The lad has potential, don't get me wrong. But too many times he panics, and takes the wrong option, as biscuit has alluded to, earlier.

The two tries he scored will increase his confidence. Good. Hopefully, Price will pick him up on the poor options he takes. If he does, King will improve, which is what we all want.

Assuming Goodwin is fit this week do you keep King in or drop him and switch Atkins back to the right?

he looks slightly similar to Mark Percival when he first came on the scene regularly, [i(No where near Mark Percival currently I know but the attributes Mark showed when he first made a claim for a starting shirt are there)[/i both have the confidence to back themselves and try something against the norm which is a breath of fresh air compared to the majority of robots we are subjected to.

If he can stay fit he will end up a very good centre, he's going to make mistakes and poor reads as he still finds his feet but that has to be expected; good consistency comes with game time. As it stands, despite some glaring negatives, he has still been able to come up with 5 try assists and score 4 himself in only 5 appearances with 4 wins and a loss. That is not bad going at all for a lad finding his way into a team.

I believe that if it wasn't for Goodwin coming down with an illness, Atkins would not have played against Cas. I expect Atkins will be dropped against Salford.

Assuming King has no after effects from Easter (he’s had his injury problems so a good eye needs to be kept on him) then I would play him vs Salford.

I agree with the above and would keep him in above Atkins. Atkins can be extremely good but he is quite often as equally frustrating as he can make bad mistakes more often than not. On the other hand, king is getting better all the time and shows strong signs of becoming an accomplished, all round centre with different facets to his game including good decision making- something that cannot always be said with Atkins.

King and Goodwin are first choice centres for me now. The longer King is kept in the first team the more confident he will feel in being an established player and the better he will play. He has done nothing wrong since Atkins has been out to warrant being dropped. Ryan is number 3 now in the centre Battery. I have mentioned many times before that Ryan should be utilised in the back row. His style of play warrants this change of position.

I am sure Ryan would make a good edge forward. At the moment we have very few injuries (one serious) but our squad is small. I think this shift could be handy for us. Big enough & hard enough.

His defence ought to be fine.
