I'm not sure. I just know that Penny has genuine appreciation and pride every time he puts on a Wire shirt and we need that and his enthusiasm right now.

His finish today was class, but his all round game is still terrible. Leigh made several clean breaks down his side and he still gives everyone in the ground palpitations when fielding kicks.

I don't know how much you watch Wire but this is a motif we're sporting very heavily this season. It doesn't matter who is on our edge defence; we are frequently getting torn up out wide. Earlier in the season I was very impressed with Penny's defence. I did go out of the country for 2 months following the home game against Leeds, so I don't recall if he played after that.

Bloody love Penny. He is what our team should be about.

It was an absolutely outstanding finish. I agree, I'm not sure Joel would have the agility nowadays to finish that. However his edge defence, along with ormsby's isn't as good as Monas & Evans.

Actually I tend to agree, and i think that's what TS will have seen.
Great in attack but caught out too often - noticed Myler went in a couple of times and Penny stayed in resulting in a walk in try. Also he also seemed to have difficulty catching his opposite number. The fact that they got outside him was not the issue because of the way we were playing - narrow. (Didn't notice the 'fielding kicks' issue, apart from the one in attack)

There's one thing you can't doubt is his real passion for playing for the team.

The problem is the sliding execution of the sliding defence on both edges for wire. It doesn't matter who the winger is. It's been the same all season. The guys on the fridges of the ruck are getting fixed too easily and the edge defenders sliding inwards rather than outwards, so the wingers are getting left with 2 or 3 on 1. Communication needs to improve across the whole defensive line. It's too easy to just blame the winger.

Kev is in for me, he gives his all, even when he's been left out,, always keen to get stuck in,, capped off with great try,, well done kev!!

This will please quite a few of us, he was offered a years extension a couple of weeks ago (so old news to one or two).
I'm delighted to know he excepted it with both feet in the air.

Kev was hung out to dry at Widnes & Wigan though because the defence went the wrong way on several occasions.

It was interesting to see that he wasn't left out to dry on the right side as he seems to be on the left...?!
He did jump the line on one occasion v Leigh, so he wasn't entirely without some blame. However, he was from Earth to the Moon away from being scapegoated.

Would & should have had a hat trick in the Leigh game, if Laithwaite had passed to him in the first half, when Laithwaite broke through, with Penny unmarked outside him.
