Even worse Rico there is now an apprentice phantom whistler at some games. The shape of things to come.

I don't have a spec as such, I vary stands and I vary the position in each stand.

If I stand just a few metres to the left of my spec it just feels wrong! However the woman who switches between shouting 'tackle' and ' offside' EVERY PTB makes me consider moving!

I got talking to Brixton Wire on the train from Gillingham to London last year, we have crossed paths a few times since. I have probably spoken to many posters over the years without realising.

I tend to drift around the South Stand, I can only last a few games in one spot before someone starts to get on my nerves.

Looks like we're all around the same spot. We're always a couple of yards to the right of the halfway line in the South. The whistler is usually somewhere in that area. Met quite a few posters over the years and quite often have a couple of pre match beers with some of them. Also had a couple of very pleasant jars with Rogues Gallery prior to last years GF. Nice guy actually.

The whistler stands (or has stood) a little to the east of half way at the back of the south stand.

We spotted him once at a quieter game (maybe World Cup) and one of our group shouted at him. He smiled, as though embarrassed by the confrontation, and one of his group angrily yelled back insinuating that they can whistle all they like. He did not whistle for the rest of the night.

That is the key, I think: locate him before kick off and let him know you know who he is.

He looked in great shape on Wednesday, he seems to suffer from the same disease as me as I just look at a pint and a curry and I put on a stone and he looks to be keeping fit!

He doesn't stand a million miles away from our group and our group has occasionally asked him to quieten down.

Imagine my surprise after a seven hour delay to Spain and a 2 hour trip to Perpignan to find said whistler sat three rows behind us at the game.

It was a proper d'oh moment.

Just to say as well, i think one of his mates or even him has started the comedic use of "you bellend" in that area.
