| Point 4 is a very good one though they should know better. As for Jon Clarke over Ben Harrison? That was a case of sentiment coming before common sense for me. But I still think we've had a season to be proud of and any calls for Tony Smith to replaced are beyond ludicrous !!! Some people have got short memories, think back to where we were (and had been for a LONG time) before he arrived !!

| I hope we are not in for 5 months of off season posts like the OP.
In Smith we trust in Fishwick we don't.

| Quote: Tricky Dicky "Quote: Tricky Dicky "This is by no means a knee jerk reaction but these are my feelings on the previous week.
1. I stated before the club call decision that we should have chosen Wigan. Based on the fact that Wigan have been struggling recently (ignoring the Catalans no show last week) and they would have been no match for us with only a 5 day turn around. Im 100% confident we would have beaten a Wigan team last night. Leeds on the other hand are the form team in SL and were coming into last nights game with confidence, belief and ability. Whoever made that decision got it WRONG.
2. Why did Smith drop Harrision in favour of Bridge. IMO it was to accomodate Riley as I believe Hodgson may have gone into last nights game carrying that ankle injury. I believe you should only play your best players in their best positions when fit. Bridge should have been in the centres with King and J Monaghan on the wings. Harrison or Grix sould have been playing loose forward. Terrible decision to omit Harrison completely. Bridge was shocking last night too.
3. Smiths total lack of respect for club call was bang out of order and he should be disciplined by the club. He may not like the process (im sure other coaches dont like it either) but to not turn up at all when the decision is announced is extremely childish and doesnt reflect the club in a goodlight at all. All the coaches of the other 3 clubs involved turned up and faced the media and so should Smith. Smiths arrogance is overwhelming at times.
4. Some players were tweeting in midweek boasting about eating at 'junk food' establishments. Great preparation for the clubs biggest game in SL history I think NOT.
5. Jon Clarke over Mickey Higham??? Has Mickey run over Smiths cat or something. Clarkey (god love him) offered absolutely nothing when he came on last night.
6. The club, coach and players totally lost the plot and bottled it last night. In the games that really counted this year they have come up short. The league leaders shield and fact that they had best defensive and attacking record means absolutely nothing now.
7. Smith is a very good coach but he is not THE best. IMO the club need to start the process of finding his successor asap cos he wont be sticking around for much longer.
8. This season has been a disaster, how anyone could think this has been a good season is beyond me. This team was more than capable of taking out the CC and GF but failed to even make the finals.
Roll on 2012.'"
Thanks for your enlightened contribution Dick

| Is the original post being serious????.....It starts off not too bad, decent points, if extremely debatable. However, by the end its just a total load of b******ks.
'This season a disaster'???..... ......I really can't wait for a good season if this was a disaster ....Fantastic rugby most weeks, finish top of the table, eliminated from both Cup competitions in probably the 2 best games of Rugby League seen all season.
Personally,. I've been well satisfied....Disappointed not to have got the deserved reward of an Old Trafford appearance, but being a Wire fan since the mid 70's, I can promise Colin that we have had far more disastorus seasons than the one which ended last night.

| Come on lads and lasses, this season has turned into a serious disappointment.
Anyone who says anything else is a bare faced liar.
And I wasn't saying we should get rid of Smith, I think Smith will leave when its good for him and no one else. He came to Warrington when a lot of the ground work had been done ala his time at Leeds. When its time for rebuilding it will be goodnight and goodbye from Mr Smith. He is a very smart cookie.

| Dita you are obviously either very dim or just on the wind up.
I will just repeat one more time in plain english;
Warrington had a squad/team more than capable of winning both the CC and GF. To not make either final is a major disappointment and makes for a very poor season which showed so much promise. Ask Smith or the players, im sure they would agree, in fact if they were honest I reckon they all thought that we were going all the way to GF success. Why do you think Briers and Clarke were in tears, they know they have just fluffed their best chance of GF glory thats why.
If you think the season has been good then you epitomise everything thats bad about sport. Sport is for winning not just taking part. We should have won something and didn't and dont try and make out the league leaders shield was winning something cos we all know its pretty much worthless.

.....I watch sport to be entertained, first and foremost, and I have been royally entertained this year.....Of course the players will be disappointed, its not like they will simply shrug their shoulders and troop off, and for Clarke and Briers it should be slightly more devastating because they know they don't have many more chances to get to a Grand Final.
It seems to me that you are one of those who has been totally spoilt by our Challenge Cup successes and seem to think we have an automatic right to win the big prizes.....Just remember, there are 3 prizes to win per season, and in the last 3 seasons we have won at least 1 of those on offer....Ok, this year its the lesser of the 3 ( a decision manufactured by Sky), but simply finishing the top of the table after a tough 27 rounds of rugby is a huge acheivement in itself, even if those in charge refuse to acknowledge it.

| The concern I have is that was the best team we have assembled but have come up without either piece of silverware. Will we be as good next year? Not sure, as Matt King has been an absolute warrior this year and is not being replaced. The new signings are a little underwhelming and some of our key players could well be playing their last season.
Hope the last couple of seasons are not as good as it was going to get.

Agree with you mate Smith rode on the coat tails of the work Dean Lance and Daryl Powell had done at Leeds, then in 2007 he realised there would be no more trophies in that Leeds side so he jumped ship to leave it for McLennan to deal with. Then he saw we were on the cusp of success under Jimmy Lowes at the start of 2009 and knew the time to join us.
I reckon we need a British coach to stop our obsession with Aussies how about Phil Clarke? He talks a lot of sense on Sky and he knows the game inside out and he won everything as a player. I reckon get Clarke in and he could sign some available British players like Hock and Gleeson and give our fans something to be excited about and lift the current gloom.
