| I think they have included Widnes in the 15 teams. Unless they are increasing SL size which is doubtful.

| It said on the BBC Website yesterday (specifically on their Sportsday feed) That the RFL had announced there would be no change in the size of Super League and it would remain a 14 team competition.
Although given the past record of both for getting things wrong, that probably means nothing.

No, the 15 refers to the current 14 SL clubs plus Halifax. These 15 are bidding for the remaining 13 places in SL 2012-14 (Widnes being already in). So if Halifax get a place, that means two current SL clubs will be relegated. If they don't, then one will be relegated.

| In the Leaguer this week the RFL have confirmed only 14 teams will be given licences for the next 3 years. 1 is Widnes obviously so at least 1 to miss out. I can't see how Halifax's application will be accepted, based on the view the 3 expansion teams (Quins, Crusaders, Catalans) are guaranteed licences. The next weakest application would probably be Salford but with the new stadium on it's way I highly doubt they will be sacrificed.
I've totally disregarded Wakey as I think they're the ones to definitely make way for the Demics!

How are Quins, Crusaders and Catalans guaranteed licences then?
Are they in the Class A group of teams that shouldn't have to worry, because I don't think they are......

| I only meant if that was the case. Depends what the RFL put the weighting on when judging the applications. If expansion is priority 1, well then you know them 3 are safe. If it's quality of competition, the top 5 are safe, etc.
IMO they will keep all 3 in SL, Wakey for Widnes will be the only difference.

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| Wakefield, Salford or Castleford could go down if Widnes and fax come up. Quins and Crusaders must be on dodgy ground but have the fact that the RFL will not admit there mistake of a London and a Welsh side (although Cru have done well since the move north)
RFL been saying since Aug 2010 there will be no SL expansion from 14. Additional teams PLUS a free weekend for the Origina game next year would expand the length of the season too much.

| It isn't down to the RFL to say how many teams are in super league, it's down to the clubs and they haven't voted to increase the league structure and with a new TV deal on the horizon now would be the time to do it. Otherwise its just a case of turkeys voting for christmas.

catalan don't bring fans but their home support is good, crusaders, quins and wakey would be the ones to be nervous i recon

50086_1357229109.jpg [b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
[b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg |
|
| Whoever gets booted out next week, and it's likely to be Wakefield, I await the comedy 'we should take legal action' threads that will start popping up all over the shop.
