| I'm in two minds about the Smiths. When I was a teenager I used to think they were awesome, but now I'm not so keen. Lots of people get irritated by the spate of American emo bands around today singing about how unfair the world is and are followed by all the misfits who reckon nobody understands them. The Smiths were basically the same sort of thing in their day but are considered a lot more cool than say My Chemical Romance would be.
I suppose these American emo bands today are singing for attention seeking middle class teenagers who don't have any real problems in life but are looking to invent reasons to justify their self harming. The kids who were into the Smiths were on council estates in Thatchers Britain and probably did have hard lives.
The Smiths did put some good songs out and they still sound good today. I just wish Morrissey would man up a bit.

Would it be fair to say many are put off by Morrissey?
They are a bit hit and miss for me.

| Last two gigs I have seen at the MEN (Slipknot and Metallica) were both two bands who really know how to work crowd and are great performers.
Gutted I haven't got AC/DC tickets though.
