| If Wood saw red (yes he should have) so should Mickey Crap as it was exactly the same on Higham. The incident with Laithwaite potentially as well.
For mine the game started to unravel when Hill and Harrison were off the field. England was particularly awful.

| Problem for me is that we can't deal with Hill, Harrison and Monaghan being off the field at the same time. Takes all of the power and all of the guile out of us. We turn to dummy half running, and there's no chance of getting a quick play the ball/penalty playing a team with such good wrestle.
Wood and England got dominated, and we couldn't get away from our line, made every kick a tough one, and the halves didn't find the turf during that period.
Another thing that played on my mind was that if Charnley would have grubbered around Hardaker or Bowen they would have left nothing to chance and would have 'completely accidentily' bundled him into the front row of the stand. Think we were a bit too nice, to the point of naive.

| I had great fun last night and we made the Wigan fans look ordinary.
Not bothered about the loss, I'm bothered about the injuries. Harrison is a massive loss, so is Bridge. Hopefully we can stay in the playoffs long enough to see them return.

| I'm staggered that somebody could call the wrestling tactics *good*. It's ruining the game. The PTB is growing evermore pedestrian...It's the main reason I'm taking a sabbatical from the game and won't be returning until somebody(don't know who) gets rid of it from the game. The third man involved in the tackle is invariably a *flop* which referees just ignore, which they didn't used to. The entertainment value has been greatly reduced in recent years and toward the end of last season I was sat there at the HJ being bored rigid most of the time.

It's not short memories, Westwood should have been sent off but it doesn't mean we can't talk about incidents in the future just because we've had a player who should have been sent but wasn't in the past.
Worst two incidents of last night's game were McIlorum's dangerous late third man shot on Waterhouse's open and stationary leg and McIlorum's late impact on Laithwaite. Both were dangerous both were late, both were cheap and both were far and away more serious than a tiny bit of fisty cuffs, most of which missed. Pettybourne shouldn't have been binned but Wood should and was rightfully sent there - if people are going to start being sent off for that, then this sport has seen its day.
There are worse, more forceful, "striking the opponent" examples every week when a player punches an opponents arms when he has hold of his jersey. O'Lauchlan was told off for it by the ref on the run after doing it last night. There's nowt different to striking the face or the arm, it's still striking the opponent. the refs tell the players this all the time during games, usually on the run, usually just as a precaution yet a punch in the face is seen as this huge crime, when as i say, there are worse things to be concentrating on that actually but players in danger.

Explain to me, like I'm five, what MM did that would have warranted a red card. He didn't throw any punches, no undue preasure to any joints, no shoulder charges and as far as I can see is guilty of a marginally late tackle (no different to J Tomkins on that was a penalty) and pulling Higham to the floor when Higham seems to have walked/pushed into him at the play the ball.

His late third man dangerous contact to the leg of Trent Waterhouse was the worst incident of the night. Red card?...dunno, probably not. But it was bad.

And why was it dangerous? Leg taken out of the normal range etc? Not that I could see, so what makes it dangerous?

What makes it dangerous is he has his legs exposed to be snapped from any angle chosen by your 3rd man. It's cheap and dirty and should be stamped out.

Never post anything like this but heard from someone who should know that Myler is off to Widnes next year!
