I can't post on the announcement threat but congratulations on finally appointing a decent coach. I can remember the relief I felt when we appointed McRae after Hughes. McClennan was a great coach and I felt we were on the verge of breaking through only for Eric Hughes to set us back five places in the table.

Signing McRae was the best thing that Saints have done in my lifetime and I'm sure most of you will feel the same about Smith getting the job. It's the first good coach I can remember you selecting and even if he might not be able to push you to the Grand Final in such a short space of time he'll ensure that the playoffs are automatic in his seasons with you. That's a significant improvement.

Or he might get a year and three quarters of total class from him.

As has been said, his mere presence will have a galvanising effect on the squad. I would imagine that he has no specific allegiance to any player so they all know that their place on the Warrington Wolves 'gravy train' is in jeapardy.

I don't for one second believe the "Jimmy Lowes is in complete control this weekend" line. He is now the boss, he is now responsible and accountable. I have no doubt that Jimmy will have a major input, but the ultimate decisions will be Smiths. For example, if he wants an impact hooker, then I have no doubt that we will play with an impact hooker.

Probably a fair bit of IT training as well. And Health and Safety. When I started at my current place, the H&S video was Australian (typical). On the bomb threat bit the actress asked the usual questions then said:

'Dare I ask, why you are doing this?'.

Ask Monaghan and Briers to give back their first months salary then politely request that they get their fingers from up their ar$es and start fulfilling their job descriptions.

Smith wil do nothing else this week than watch and observe... hopefully he will see a new team that is willing to play for the shirt and not just the wage and make changes next week if necessary. If that means bringing the best of the reserves through then so be it but i am sure the likes of briers wil show what he is made of 2moz against the mighty leeds.
