| Quote Dita's Slot Meter="Dita's Slot Meter"I don't disagree that Mamo brings something different than what will Matautia will fetch, but I don't believe one is significantly any better or worse that it will make a huge difference to results. It's more that it may influence & be an indicator to the type of RL that Powell wants to play - reliability over unpredictable individual flair?'"
How have you come to that conclusion unless you watch cas regular...the bit I've seen of matautia.hes not a patch on mamo...

Matautia is more a strong runner and generally speaking strong defender. He isn't gunna snaffle an interception and storm 90 yards. He's a more consistent performer at centre than FB or half back. I'd worry about mamo defensively as a centre. Bags of pace but a little small maybe? I think Matautia is a better centre but maybe Mamo a better squad player

With regards to your thoughts that Mamo is fast but small for a centre, the same could be said for Gildart and Percival and they are both international players.

Wasn't he Man Of The Match in quite a high standard game just last week?

| You'd think whoever had signed him would want to ride on the back of that performance and release the news this week after the performance last night.
I'd love Mamo to stay and be fighting for a spot in the 17 each week, but i'd guess he'd want some certainty of a regular spot and his form over the past 6 weeks may have come too late, we also have to think whether having Mata'utia & Mamo in the squad will hold back players such as Wrench from furthering his development. After a tough first outing this year, Wrench was solid vs Leigh and really good last night, hopefully we can see more of him.
My concern of Mamo to Cas would be the incoming Cas coach, I get the impression he'd crush that enthusiasm out of him.

| Mamo is fast and is a wholehearted competitor which is why he is popular with fans, but he's not a consistent top drawer player and he has holes in his game too so if an incoming coach wants to change things it's not the end of the world.
As often happens on here when we have a few good results, certain players start getting overhyped: this week it's Lineham and Mamo, we go through phases where people rave about Ratchford, Hughes and Philbin too. What you have to remember with all these guys is, they were all there in the team when we were on those bad runs and people were calling out Price for just picking his favourites week in, week out and not giving younger players a shot or mixing the team up. What did all these fan favourites do in those games where things were not going our way, to turn things around?
The big problems Wire have had through the Price era are a lack of leaders and a lot of players who can look hot when the team in general is playing well but then disappear into anonymity when the team isn't so there is nobody there to turn around bad situations. The squad needs a shake up and is likely to get one with Powell, it will involve losing some fan favourites, just like happened at Leeds and Cas.

I'm happy with mamo joining, he does have an xfactor about him. Just concerned we aren't going to have an out and out centre next year with matautia leaving and shenton v likely to retire.
Another positive for matautia are his carries, often gets you on the front foot early which clark will thrive on. A negative is his tackle technique. Always a candidate for a ban.
Adding matautia and Holmes will definitely make you a more robust side, if you have Williams, clark, widdop etc I see no reason for you not to be favourites next year

I'd be happy if he stayed, I just wont be worried if he doesn't.
The only players in our side I'd be worried about losing right now is any of our first choice front row - Daryl Clark is the best hooker in the league by a fair distance & Hill & Cooper are still head & shoulders above any props we have. The drop off in momentum is always obvious when they aren't on the pitch. If either left, the club would have to pay big or get lucky to find replacements who would fill their boots adequately.
