Contact with a ref, be it accidental or in communication is inevitable in nearly all games. Deliberate contact like a push or hock style tackle falls way out of the inevitable zone.

Had another look at the incident last night by re-running the game off the planner so not isolating the incident. It's clear that Currie gives the ref a quick nudge in petulance/anger, Silverwoods face shows a bit of shock as to what happened there. Emmit does touch the ref and mutter something, but that is not the same thing in any way. He's banned it's over. After tonight's game there will be something else to debate.

It's time to let go of this touching lark. It's not the same. One with intent of (very minor) assault and the other isn't. It really is that simple.

One was a push, the other was a pull, both were deliberate contact with the referee and both deserving of bans. Typical RFL judiciary (lack of) consistency.

Well, if you're looking at it as a neutral, currie's wasn't an assault, what it was, was he was explaining to sims what had happened, and mimicking the push he got, unfortunately he was looking to his right and didn't see the ref who copped the mimicked push.

LMS grabbed the ref on the shoulder and pulled him around the dispute the decision, in the grand scheme of things, they're both relatively minor transgressions but neither should be allowed and a two match ban is about fair call for both of these things as a reminder,mind what you're bleeding doing.

I have no issue about a ban for either. Neither of them should Man handle a ref but they are 2 very different actions. Personally LMS ought to get 1 game for it and Currie rightly gets two, Hock was lucky to get 8 I think, he ought to have got the same as Ben Flower for an assault.

As for an assault FMC, it was, some level of verbal at, or laying your hands on someone is a crime, but left with the ref and commissions to deal with them. Police will not interfere but they can.
